"Hold on. Meg collapsed just like that?" said Calvin.

"Yes. It was quite a shock" Chad whispered.

"But did you ever find out why she collapsed?" said Robin.

"If we didn't, I wouldn't have had the surgery" said Meg.

"But Chad mentioned his heart while you were on the shore. Did he jinx you?" said Charles Wallace.

"Charles, what have I told you about blaming Chad for what befalls Meg?" scolded Jeremy.

"Sorry, Chad!" said Charles Wallace.

"Please go on" said Batman.

"I was saying..." Meg began.

Chad took Meg to the hospital where her bosses, Dr Whatsit, Dr Who and Dr Which checked her out.

"Chad, I'm afraid we're the bearers of bad tidings" said Dr Which.

Chad looked at them like he wanted them to continue.

"We're afraid your wife is suffering cardiac arrest" said Dr Whatsit.

Chad took his wife's hand as she lay in a hospital bed unconscious.

"Meg..." he whispered near tears.

"Come now, Chad. Panic is a wasted emotion" said Dr Which.

"Show me a smile and don't be unhappy. Lauper, American" said Dr Who.

Chad gave a tiny smile when he heard the nice quote.

Then he stroked Meg's hair and sang a quiet song for her.

Sweet thing, sweet thing

Forever you will be

My dearest thing, dearest thing

Always know what you mean to me

My lovely thing, my lovely thing

You will always be

My sweet thing, sweet thing, sweet thing

Sweet thing, sweet thing, sweet thing

As Chad hung his head, Meg opened her eyes and reached up to caress his cheek.

"And you'll always be mine" she said.

"Meg... my sweet. I won't let you go through this alone" said Chad.

"I won't let you leave me" said Meg.

"But I think we should tell your mates" said Chad.

"No" said Meg firmly. "They're all on vacation. I'm not ruining their holidays."

"Indeed. We wouldn't want them to know Meg's holiday involves cardiac arrest that requires immediate surgery" said Dr Which.

"She needs surgery?" Chad gasped.

"Yes, dear Chad, I'm afraid so" said Dr Whatsit.

Chad looked at Meg.

Meg looked at Chad with a serious face. "You won't have to leave."

"I won't? But, Meg, I can't go in the operating room" said Chad.

"Not unless you're a surgeon" said Meg.

She looked up at her bosses. "I want Chad to perform this operation."
