The Wrong Friend

I slept better in Eric and Theo's bed and after drinking the warm milk than I had in a while. Even with Mom being there, I still had a restless sleep. So it was nice to be able to sleep and sleep well at that.

Theo let me sleep in the next day so I woke up in bed alone. The clock beside the bed said it was almost ten. From how wet and saggy my diaper was, I could definitely tell it was late.

I got out of bed and it was then I truly realized how full my diaper really was. It was sagging a lot, even in my sweatpants, and made it hard for me to walk. I reached down to feel how squishy the diaper was and touched the wet fabric.

A loud groan left my lips as I realized what had happened. I looked back at the bed and saw a small but noticeable wet stain on the bed. I hated wetting my own bed but doing it in someone else's bed when I wasn't alone in it was so humiliating.

I made my way out into the hallway and called for Theo. I didn't want to tell him what had happened but I knew keeping another secret from him wasn't going to end well for me. He never made me feel bad when I had any accidents before. I would have wanted to handle it all myself but I couldn't even change my own diaper yet.

Theo opened the baby gate and started up the steps. "I thought you were going to sleep in all day."

"I'm surprised I didn't."

"Do you need your diaper changed?"

I nodded. "Yeah, um... I also have to show you something."

"Okay. What is it?"

I led Theo back into his bedroom and I pulled on the blankets just enough that the wet spot was visible. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to... I wanted to clean it up for you but you told me to let you know first."

"It's okay. I can get it cleaned up in a little bit."

He was acting so calm and I couldn't figure out why. Having an accident in bed was gross. I would have been mad if someone did that to me while I was sleeping right next to them.

"You're not mad?"

Theo looked surprised. "Mad? Why would I be mad at you?"

"This is your bed."

"Jake, I gave you the milk. It's my fault if anything. Besides, you can't control your bladder, especially while you're sleeping. You didn't do anything wrong." He pulled the blankets into a pile over the bare mattress. Thankfully, it stopped at the sheets and didn't ruin the mattress. "Honestly, I'm glad you came to me about this. I'm just here to help you. I won't get mad over little things like this."

"Oh."

"Let's go get you changed first. Do you want to get a shower before you get dressed?"

I shook my head. "I'm not that wet. I think I just slept weird."

Theo walked across to my bedroom and I followed him. "You were sound asleep all night. Even when Eric was getting ready for work, you never woke up. That milk must have really helped you."

"Maybe a little too well."

He laughed.

I laid down on the changing table so Theo could help me change into a dry diaper. Wetting the bed and having accidents without being able to control it had to be the hardest change I had to deal with. Not knowing when I was going to have an accident or being able to stop myself from going was tough to get used to. It really made me feel like a baby.

Theo was good at changing my diapers quickly. I only had to wait maybe a minute for him to change me into a clean diaper and toss the old one.

"You'll have to go get a pair of pants to change into. I'm not sure what you want to wear. I was thinking we could go to the park today. It's been a while since you've been out of the house. You could use some fresh air."

I swung my legs over the edge of the table. It was a bigger step down than it had been ever since I shrunk several inches. "What if I run into Soleil?"

"I thought you liked her. Wouldn't that be a good thing?"

My eyes widened. "I was fine seeing her when I didn't look like this. I don't have any teeth now. What if she makes fun of me or laughs at me?"

"Jake, you still have teeth. You're only missing two."

"It might as well be all of them. I can't even talk right." All of my f's sounded funny. Saying Theo's name sounded off. Even Soleil was hard for me to pronounce without a lisp.

"That's part of the fun of missing teeth."

I glared at him. "I don't agree. There's nothing fun about missing teeth. They're never going to come back."

"I'm sorry you have to deal with that, Jake. Hopefully, you don't lose any more."

I got down from the table and walked to my dresser. I opened the bottom drawer and pulled out a pair of shorts to change into. I grabbed a clean T-shirt and got dressed.

Theo leaned against the changing table and waited as I got dressed.

I looked up at him as I sat down to put a pair of socks on. "Can I ask you something?"

He nodded. "Of course."

"Do you think Soleil would think it's weird if I used a binky at the park?"

"So let me get this straight. You'd rather use a binky than let her see your teeth?"

I glared at him. "Look, it's bothering me. I can't help how I feel. I just don't want her to make fun of me."

"If she makes fun of you then she isn't someone you want to have as a friend."

"Yeah, but I want to prevent that from happening. I actually like her. Like like her."

"Go for the binky then. But just think about what I said. I'd hate for you to make the wrong friends and end up hurt."
