Forty Four

"Why do you have the toilet seat up, Hyunji?"

Shit, that dirty little bitch. Hyunji thought.

She had reminded him thousands of times to put the seat down.

"Uh, I- I was cleaning my bathroom." Hyunji replied to her mother.

"It doesn't look very clean." Haneul pursed her lips.

"I was about to clean it."

It was the little things that Hanuel noticed that made Hyunji nervous. Her mother didn't say anything further but Hyunji wasn't sure if her mom believed her or not. She wasn't always the most convincing liar.

Almost every time he text he made her smile, and that pretty little giggle that he adored usually followed. Haneul noticed every time. Hyunji was practically glowing the entire summer and as soon as school started she seemed upset and glued to her phone.

Am I overreacting?

She would never hide things from me.

Hanuel's thoughts were overwhelming her.

"Hyunji," Hanuel paused, turning around to go back into her daughter's room. "Is there anything you want to tell me?"

As if Hyunji would just spill her secrets. Sometimes the guilt of lying bothered Hyunji, but she knew the outcome if she told the truth. Her mother left the room as Hyunji grabbed her phone to text her boyfriend a few snarky comments.

"Hey, Ji, do you want to sit with me and my friends at the lunch table?"

Hyunji heard his voice and turned to him as she shut her locker. It was Jaehyung, again. He had been talking to her more and more everyday. Hyunji was starting to believe he may have developed some feelings for her.

"No thank you." She smiled. "I usually sit with my friends and I don't want to ditch them. I'll see you in English though."

"I understand, see you later." Jaehyung warmly grinned before heading down the halls.

Ryujin popped up beside Hyunji.

"He's so into you! You know he's the most popular guy here. He's also the best on the soccer team." Ryujin bumped Hyunjis shoulder.

"Well he shouldn't be. I don't want to tell him I have a boyfriend and assume he's into me and embarrass myself. But I might subtly mention it."

"Of course he's into you and you're taken. You could always tell him you've got a hot friend and give him my number."

"I'll think about it. It's funny none of these guys ever batted me an eye before." Hyunji chuckled.

"You're in love, you're sending off pheromones to all the boys around!" Ryujin said.

"You sound just like my friend, Jimin."

Hyunji seemed to rarely ever get attention from guys her previous years of highschool. Now once she was happy in a relationship they all came crawling around. She did have a glow up over the summer but it didn't seem like it was just that. Despite the fact that she wasn't interested in them, it still flattered her and boosted her confidence.

Hyunji sighed, it had been three weeks since she had sex. Three weeks felt longer than it should have. Jungkook had come over to her house a few times but they were doing homework, assignments, or studying together. Then went for a hike with Jay and that left no room for intimacy. It was harder than expected to get quality time together, let alone sex.
