"Hyunji, are you even paying attention?" Eunji raised her eyebrow, looking at her younger cousin.

"I'm sorry. . ." Hyunji sighed.

"You know I don't usually give out free chemistry tutoring. C'mon what's wrong? You're usually more focused than this."

Eunji had been tutoring her cousin in chemistry again since the school year started. With a big test coming up Hyunji expected to be very studious so she didn't bomb this test, but that wasn't the case.

"Maybe I just need a break." Hyunji leaned back in her chair.

"What's bothering you?" Eunji asked again.

"This guy at school-"

"But, Jungkook?"

That really hurt Hyunji's heart. She couldn't even finish the sentence and her cousin who wasn't even fond of Jungkook was already mentioning him.

"I know, I'm a terrible girlfriend." Hyunji groaned. "I think Jaehyun likes me, but he could just want to be friends. He's the most popular guy in school and I don't like him, but I like that he likes me."

"Oh," Eunji pushed her iPad aside. "I'm sure it's just a phase it'll pass. He'll forget about you and you'll forget you ever had a little crush on him."

"I don't have a crush on him!"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes! I don't want anyone but Jungkook. . . But, it's just nice being noticed. I like that he comes up to me every day and says hi or that he switched his lunch table to be next to me and my friends table. I try to distance myself from him but he makes it hard. He was even asking me about homecoming."

Eunji was not expecting that. She kept her facial expression neutral. It was clear her younger cousin already felt bad and Eunji didn't want her to feel any worse.

"That's completely understandable." Eunji started, "You don't have your boyfriend around and your parents are never home. We all crave validation, especially male validation whether we want to admit it or not. You said you don't have feelings for him then you don't have a problem Hyunji."

"But I just feel bad," Hyunji groaned. "Should I tell Jungkook?"

Oh god no! Eunji thought.

"Why would you tell Jungkook? You didn't cheat on him and you don't even romantically like this guy." Eunji said.

Eunji didn't want to tell her cousin what to do, but she didn't want to advise Hyunji to tell her boyfriend.

"I just want to be honest with him." Hyunji spoke.

"You do what you think is best." Eunji softly smiled, silently hoping Hyunji took her advice not to tell him. "One last thing?"

"What?"

"Is he hot?"

"Eunji, that doesn't matter!"

______________

Hyunji sat at her desk as she typed her assignment, on the assignment she had to do a partner with. Her history teacher just had to insist on pairs. Hyunji was going to ask one of her girl friends to be her partner but they had ditched her for someone else and Jaehyun was happy to take her place.

She was trying to maintain some distance between them. This made things more difficult, but Hyunji limited things to just texting.

Jungkook was on facetime with her and he noticed she kept picking up her phone. Her phone dinged again and Jungkook saw her roll her eyes before picking it up and texting.
