She stared at me like I was crazy.
"We're in the Labyrinth now!?" She exclaimed, her golden eyes going wide. I nodded and tossed another board into the flames.
(Y/n) was on her feet in an instant.
"We need to get out of here! We have a quest to start! A-and the world to save-"
She had started pacing; with her wrong foot, it became more of a hobble. Which was kind of adorable.
I did not just think that.
"There's no way out until the Labyrinth makes one," I mumbled, watching as she banged her fists off the stone walls and let out a frustrated shout.
She turned, walking back towards me, and marched to the fountain.
"There's got to be a secret passage somewhere, a loose brick O-or something."
She slid her hand across every inch of the stone surface, looking for a secret. I could see something on the inside was tugging at her.
"(Y/n), you're exhausted. Did you sleep at all tonight?"
Her eyes darted away from mine and flitted madly around the room.
I stood up, brushing the dust off my pants.
"Okay, here's the deal. I'll let you sleep for a few minutes, then we'll look for a way out, even if I have to make one."
Her eyes met mine, and I watched her eyelid droop a smidge. She looked away, thinking for a minute, rubbing her bandaged arm nervously.
"Okay," she tried to hide a yawn and walked to the other side of the fire.
I watched her lay down awkwardly in her shorts and T-shirt. She pulled her shirt down in the back, and I watched a stretch of skin flash out. Her pyjamas were obviously not meant for exploring a crumbling magical ruin system.
"(Y/n)," she turned to meet my eye as I pulled off my sweater and threw it at her.
It hit her in the face, and I had to fight to suppress a laugh.
"You're going to get cold." I justified. She narrowed her eyes at me.
"I don't want your sweater, Flame Boy." she hissed through clenched teeth, balling it up and ready to throw it back.
Bite your tongue, Leo. Bite your tongue.
I tried to hold back my words of stubbornness.
"Don't worry about me, Cariño. I'm a man of heat!"
On cue, I burst into flames, flexing my arms, "I don't get cold easily; I'll be fine."
She didn't look convinced, but seeing how she glanced at the warm fabric, I could tell she wanted it. She slipped the hoodie over her head, mumbling curses as she did.
Then she turned away from me, laying on her side. I stood there for a second before turning away. There was a shuffle, and I heard her mutter something.
"You have a quest tomorrow, too, if there's no way out, nothing getting in."
I smiled and lay down on the same side of the fire as her.
She may not like me, but if anything made its way into the shrine, they'd have to get through me first.
A few silent minutes passed as I lay by the crackling fire.
How could I have been so stupid to get trapped in here?
One minute, you're at bunker 9; the next, you're trapped in the Labyrinth.
