Leo and I made our way to the lobby, where my friends were waiting with tired smiles and sad eyes.
Together, we rounded up our group of rag-tag misfits.
All of the soldiers were invited to join us, but many stayed behind, some to grieve their friends and family and some to avoid their parents. All of these were valid reasons.
If I could have gotten out of seeing Bia and Achelois, I would in a heartbeat.
We walked towards the elevator, where Katie stood looking battered and bruised. Her arm hung from a sling, and behind her, with his hand on her shoulder, Travis had a darkening black eye.
She nodded as we passed, her eyes shining with pride.
My heart raced with anticipation as we stepped into the elevator.
Taking a deep breath, I clutched Leo's hand in mine as he pressed the golden 600th-floor button.
The elevator started ascending, and I could feel the gentle vibration beneath my feet. I looked at Leo and my friends, their eyes filled with unease, too.
It didn't help that 'Escape' by Rupert Holmes was playing in the background as our shaky breaths bounced off the elevator's confined walls.
Each passing floor brought us closer to our destination, and I could feel something begin to twist in the pit of my stomach until, finally, the bell chimed, and we came to a stop.
The doors opened, and despite the fear coursing through my body, I couldn't help but gasp.
It was beautiful.
We were greeted by lush forests blanketing the landscape, with flowing greenery and blooming fruit trees everywhere.
The air was crisp and refreshing, carrying with it the sweet scent of pastel flowers. It was as if nature itself were putting on a vibrant display just for us.
Nymphs and Satyrs played tag in a nearby open spot while others sat coupled up in the shade, listening to a delicate reed pipe melody.
Gems the size of boulders shone, glistening stalactites and stalagmites, creating a mystical reflection.
I turned to find Leo already looking at me, smiling.
"Come on," he whispered, stepping out in order to help me get out of the Elevator.
Ahead stood parks and streets bustling with minor gods, godlings, nature spirits and demigods. Alongside the gods live hundreds of other creatures and beings.
I spotted a handful of beautiful white marble statues sitting on their pedestals and chatting as we approached.
They went quiet as we passed, their eyes burning into the backs of our heads as they turned to whisper in each other's ears.
Every other sound around us disappeared until we were walking in complete silence.
Our march through Olympus was not how I'd expected.
Being on crutches meant our entrance was slow and deliberate. It didn't help that the place was utterly silent, save for the creak of the crutches as I shifted my weight around.
Half my heart told me to pull a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and pretend to trip, diving into a perfect roll.
The other half said to me that was a stupid idea and that my ribs hurt.
The eyes on us began to make my skin crawl, feeling like a bug under a microscope, and my heart started to pound in my ribcage, causing pain to spasm up my body,
