"How do you keep doing that?"

The goth mumbled. I pried my arm out of his grip, rubbing the feeling of skin on skin off of me.

"I have no idea. I just picture where I want to be, and the shadows take me there. Well, sort of." I said, trying not to think of my first attempt at stopping Lamia.

Hopefully, no one else had seen it.

"Interesting," His knees were pressed up against the back of the seat in front of him.

He went quiet, so I assumed he was thinking. This gave me a chance to notice what kind of bus we had really gotten on.

I'll be adding buses to the things we need to check before getting on.

I ran a hand down my face.

We had gotten on a bus full of little league volleyball kids and their overly excited moms. I have no idea how I hadn't registered the screaming and screeches when I first sat down.

Across the aisle from us was a woman, a baby on her lap and her other child on the seat beside her. She was wrestling with him to get on his knee pads as he kicked the seat in front of him, his legs sprawling in every direction.

"Need a hand?" I asked, leaning over.

She smiled, wiping her forehead. It was obviously her first time with the equipment since the one she had managed to get on was on his arm like an elbow pad.

"Yes, please, he won't sit still," She sighed, exasperating radiation off of her.

I turned to the kid, gently taking the one off his arm before sliding it over his foot onto his ankle. She handed me the other one, and in a matter of seconds, he was ready.

"He might not like them since they can get pinchy sometimes, you can leave them down by his ankles until the game and then pull them up," I added, she smiled at me, relief flooding her face.

"Thank you." The woman mumbled, rocking her now stirring baby.

I nodded.

"No problem," I turned back to Nico, who was staring at me.

"What?" His eyes travelled from me to the mother I had just helped.

"I play volleyball, okay," I crossed my arms, leaning back into the seat. He nodded.

"I know. When we were at your house, I saw some of your old trophies." The son of Hades said.

I felt myself smile, (Y/n) Hale Captain of the hurricanes, I had been playing volleyball since I could remember.

My dad had taught me, and when he was gone, it felt like a part of him was still with me when I played.

Nico turned away from me and went to the window.

"So. Where to next?" Nico asked.

"Hephaestus told Leo that Apollo is in Saskatchewan, and when Leo and I were trapped in the Labyrinth, we saw him on a farm under an old stable," I said.

Nico sighed, and Will's head suddenly emerged in the space between our two seats.

"This is Saskatchewan, (Y/n); there are farms and old stables everywhere." The blonde motioned to the scenery whizzing by outside.

"I know what this one looks like; I'll scout it from the bus," I sighed.

Will and Nico exchanged a look, tension beginning to rise in the air.

"(Y/n), Nico has something to say."

Will sounded nervous. I turned to see the goth go paler than usual.
