Jay POV
It's been a minute since my baby and I hung out alone. I was missing out on spending time with her for too long now.
I shoot her a text and let her know that I miss her and that I wanted to see her today.
It was a Saturday. I figured we both have time since there was no school. Of course we had homework and other obligations, but when you love somebody, you make time for them.
We agreed to meet up at my house. We went for a walk to the spot that was by the lake. We went there before when we had an early morning conversation a week ago.
Speaking of, it's been a week and I still haven't properly expressed my gratitude to Jaliyah for the clutch life-saving she did. It would be on my mind every hour or so, but I couldn't wait anymore and overthink what to do. I didn't want to make things awkward or just to do some dumb shit so before Mo reached my house I sent a gift to arrive at her house that I knew she lived in.
It was a sweet gift but I don't think it was too sweet. I'm gonna tell Mo. I think I have the balls to.
"Babe, the water looks so stunning."
She was laying down on my lap. Her head was turned out to the lake in front of us. I can admit it was peaceful seeing the water so calm.
"Just like you babe." I kiss her cheek.
She shifts towards me and let our eyes meet again.
"I missed this. I missed you so much."
"I missed you too. I hung out with my sister when we weren't talking but my sister doesn't smell as nice as you." I say.
"I like your sister, so don't talk about her. Before I get her to beat you up."
"Ha. You and that tiny girl can run up and get done up of you want. I'll take both of you at the same time." I say jokingly. Of course I would never lay my hands on a girl, especially not someone I call girlfriend.
"Keep playing and you might wake up with a black eye and lipstick all on your face."
"You know how much I hate wearing makeup." I shiver shoots down my spine.
"Just chill before you make me tie that little minion up in her sleep. Then I'll find you next." I tickle her stomach.
"Stop, baby. Don't do that. I'm just joking." She pushes my arms to try and stop me.
"I know. Me too but um.. on a serious note. I wanted to talk to you about something." My throat was suddenly dry and I cough.
She places her hand on my thigh and rubs back and forth.
"Talk to me, babe. What's up?"
"I've been stressed about a lot, you already know mostly why and— it's just..." I choke up a bit on thinking of more words than I could speak.
She could tell I was having a hard time finding the words to say, but I have to be straightforward so that I don't seem like I was trying to hide something. I want to rebuild our trust.
"Remember when I told you I was almost shot?"
She nods knowing she didn't need to answer my rhetorical question. "Yes baby, what's going on?"
"I told you that somebody, a friend, helped me. Well, I didn't send them a gift until this morning."
"Oh okay. I'm glad you thought of something. What did you come up with? What did they say?" She asks.
It surprised me that she was asking questions but not the deeper questions.
When our relationship started, there was a sense of transparency on both ends. It was important to us both that we were transparent, even when it didn't seem like it was gonna make us happy. Lately, we ran away from that.
