The Next Day

Lonnie wakes up and gets dressed for school. She grabs her keys and she gets a text from Morgan.

"I'm gonna walk to school today"

That was quite strange to Lonnie because they lived close to the school but it wasn't a regular walking distance. So she just replied "okay."

She went over to Chaz house to pick her up because even if she was mad at Chaz she still cared.

She sat in her driveway texting, calling, honking her horn, she even got out the car and knocked on the door. No answer. She just drove to school alone.

She walked into to first period and saw Jay and Morgan. But no Chaz. The bell rang and that was exactly when Chaz zipped through the door.

Teacher - Well look who's right on time.

Chaz came over to her seat and no words were shared. Class was just quiet. Nothing was right. And that's how it was all day. Even at lunch. Morgan avoided their table, Jay didn't sit at the table, and Chaz was no where to be seen during lunch.

School was over and they had practice. It was off because the trio wasn't together as usual and coach noticed it.

Coach blew her whistle.

"Three Stooges, my office now."

The assistant coach led practice as they walked off.

Coach: Alright, I don't know what's up but something is up. My power tools are not working and I don't know why. Anyone care to explain.

They were all staring at the ground and no one answered.

Coach: So we can fix this problem or I'll fix it for yall and nobody will play next week.

Jay: Coach that's not fair.

Coach: Me losing a game because my players are putting their emotions before the game is not fair.

Jay: Coach I'm not the problem. It's your girl Lonnie who just been straight tripping.

Lonnie: how? Because I won't let you touch my cousin. I already talked to you about that, family is off limits period.

Jay: See that's yo problem. You always assuming. I don't want yo cousin I was just helping her out when no one else was. If you were a true friend you would've heard me out instead of kicking me out.

Coach: Okay. so I'm gonna give you guys time to talk and when I come back if it's not solved, I'll fix it.

She exits.

Jay: After the game something went down and Morgan was calling me. I ran to her and found somebody trying to rape her. I took her home and then that's when she didn't want me to leave so I stayed with her and we fell asleep together. Nothing happened between us. But she needed somebody and I was there. That was it.

Lonnie: Man I didn't know. I'm sorry. I'm truly an asshole. I should really apologize to her.

Jay: Man I forgive you. You just need to chill out on the real.

Lonnie: So Speedy Gonzalez, why were you late today?

Chaz: What does that have to do with anything?

Lonnie: I blew your shit up this morning and you didn't bother to call or text and let a nigga know you good. Tell me you got home safe, or tell me you got another ride. I'm out worrying about yo ass and you just don't give a fuck.

Chaz: For your information, my phone was dead. I stayed with Bianca for the night and she brought me to school. and yes she'll also be taking me home tonight but I didn't ignore you on purpose I just never got the chance to charge my phone. Besides barely remembering a lot from last night, I knew I was safe so I didn't care. I just wanted to have fun like I hadn't in a long time. If you cared you'd understand that.

Lonnie: But that's some chick you meet at the club Chaz. You don't know what she's capable of. Or what she does?

Chaz: Actually, she goes to our school, she's our age. You probably never seen her cause she not drooling over you like all the other hoes. But she's beautiful and has a great personality. I really like her. Remember "Let's get lil Chazzy happy again." That's what I'm trying to do. That whole morning thing was an innocent mistake so you gotta forgive me cause that wasn't intentional.

Lonnie: I forgive you for it. Just.. Be careful. These hoes aint loyal.

Chaz: She's not a hoe. She doesn't work at that club. It just seemed like it. Just have faith in me. Support me like a true friend would.

Lonnie: Alright man. Just know I'll be here to catch you if you fall.

Chaz: Thank you. That's all I ask.

Jay: Well sounds like a nice girl. We have any classes with her?

Chaz: Finders Keepers.

They laugh.

Jay: We back to being a triple threat?

Chaz& Lonnie: Yeah.

They all swarm in for a hug.

Coach walks in.

"I see smiles. So it's fixed? Will I be winning the next game?"

Jay: Yeah. We're good.

Coach: Good. Now go get your tails out there and learn some plays.

Jay: Coach can I talk to you about something?

Coach: Yeah sweetheart. What's up?

Jay: Last night after the game something bad happened. There was a rape attempt but I stopped it. The person was someone on your team.

Coach: My team? And who is that?

Jay: Well it was Kennethia. She tried to rape a girl.

Coach: Are you sure?

Jay: I put it on my life.

Coach: Wow. That's not something minor. That's a real crime.

Jay: Yeah. I just wanted to let you know some of your players are really messed up.

Coach: Wow. Well thank you for letting me know. She will no longer be on this team. I do not tolerate those kind of actions.

Jay goes back to practice. Things are kind of back to normal. Kennethia is called to the office and then we know what happened.

When Jay got back to her car she found a piece of paper in her windshield. It read

"I know it was you, I got something for yo ass. Watch yo back."

Jay was scared but then again she wasn't. She just drove home and went to sleep.
