Jay POV
She cocked her gun back and pointed it right between my eyes. At that point there was nothing to be said and nothing that could be done.
I decided to accept reality and let life do what it planned. If it's my time to go then it is.
I closed my eyes. With my head held high, I decided to go out with my pride. My last moment on this Earth was going to be in a school alley.
My last thought I wanted to have before my life ended was the person I loved more than I've ever loved any other human being on this Earth.
Then the gun shot.
Then everything was inaudible. As if God had just clicked the mute button on life.
My heart was racing faster than Usain Bolt.
My heart was racing.
I was still alive.
I didn't feel any pain, just a loud ringing in my ears.
Something was off and I was so confused on what was happening. I opened my eyes slowly trying to catch sight of what just occurred.
Gradually gaining a visual of what was in front of me, I saw a body on the ground. It was Kenny.
Did she shoot herself?
I analyzed her body and there was a gunshot in her chest. Blood was getting on her shirt.
I dropped down to the ground releasing a sigh of relief. My life was spared but I didn't know why. I guess God didn't plan for me to die yet.
Maybe this was just a lesson that life is short and I may need to live my life a little differently. My last day on this Earth can come before I'm even prepared. I have to change the way I live. This has to be a big sign for something.
"Thank you God" I whisper with my eyes closed.
There was a sudden sound of movement. I didn't know if it was a person or a creature, so I turned slowly. Hopefully it wasn't someone who would assume that I had killed this girl. Or even better, if it's an animal it can't say anything to anyone.
Out of all the people in this world to step into the barely lit up alleyway, it was her. With that infamous orange hair. Even on such a dark night, it still made its bold statement with its presence.
I noticed something was in her hand. It was dark and small.
She had a gun.
What the heck is going on here? Could she be where the gunshot came from? When did she get here? Why was she here?
So much silence was consuming this alleyway. We both continued to just stare at each other.
The ringing in my ears was subsiding slowly.
After a minute or so, I decided to get myself off of the floor.
"So was it you?" I asked her.
"Yeah." She said. "You called me. I heard you two talking."
Maybe I accidentally dialed her when I threw my phone in my bag. I guess it's possible it could've called her number... of all people.
"How did you know I was here?" I asked. Did she have a tracking device in me?
"When we were together, this is usually where you were at 8:00 on weekdays" She replied.
I can't believe that she actually remembered that. I'm oddly happy that she did remember that detail.
