3 - The Answer Is No

Morgan POV

At lunch I gave like 5 different studs my number I just never really got time to get with Jay. I hope that would change before the day ended. Lunch ended and I went to my 3rd period which was AP Physics. One of my favorite subjects. I got a new friend, I don't know much about her but I like her vibe she's funny. Somebody I could actually be friends with, her name was Taylor.

My fourth period was HOPE. It was a P.E. class. I saw the whole crew; Lonnie and the fine ass studs. I walk into the gym and take a seat on the bleachers with the rest of the people in the class. The teachers introduce themselves. A female and a male teacher. Mrs. Rogers (Coach) and Mr. Karl (Coach Karl).

Coach takes the females to the girl locker room and Coach Karl takes the boys. The girls use the gym and the boys go outside, we were told we could do anything but it had to be productive. Lonnie went to the closet and came out with a basketball.

"Alright who wants to play ball?"

"Can I play?" I asked.

Lonnie gave me a look. But I didn't back down. "Alright check up. You and Chaz against me and Jay." I agreed. She checked me. I passed the ball to Chaz who passed it back to me and made the first point.

"You trying to go easy on me?"

"Oh don't forget who taught you."

She checked me again and I fake the shot. She fell for it and I scored again.

"Last time I checked pops taught me and you learned with me. Only difference is I never joined the team." I hit a lay up and made it.

"Seems like we have the wrong one on the team" I tease. That got her mad. But we still played ball. Chaz and I won by a six point lead; 21 to 15.

The bell rang. "Well time to go home. Tell mommy how you got beat by lil cuz"

"I'm the one driving, might wanna shut up"

I went over to get my bags.

No one POV.

Chaz: Man your cousin got moves. Why isn't she on the team?

Lonnie: Oh hell no.

Jay: I'm with Lonnie. Nah man.

Chaz: Aye man. You can't lie she whopped yall asses. Beat you at something that's supposed yall life.

Lonnie: Don't push it man. I said no. She's not gonna be on our team.

Lonnie and Jay were the two captains on the basketball team.

Morgan POV

I walk back over and see that Jay is by herself still on the court shooting ball and Lonnie and Chaz were exiting the gym together. I take this as my time to approach her.

"Nice playing. How long you been playing?"

She didn't look at me she just kept shooting ball. "7 years. Been on the team for the past four"

"Wow. So you really love basketball?"

"Yeah."

"What position do you play?"

"Shooting guard"

I can tell she wasn't lying. She didn't miss one shot. She actually might've been going easy on me today now that I think about it. "Wow."

"Yeah.." She says awkwardly

"Were you going easy on me today?" I ask

"Yeah" She admits. I'm shocked and confused.

"Why?" I question.

"Because you're a girl"

"What the fuck are you?"

"A tough person"

"If you're so tough why did you go easy on me?"

"I'm not heartless. You would've felt bad if I would've actually beat you"

So I don't know if I should take this offensively because she's trying to call me soft or like this because she's lowkey saying she cares about my feelings. Hehe. She cares.

"I'm not soft. I'm tougher than you think. We have to have a rematch. That's not fair."

"Nah. You go ahead and take your win."

"I can go ahead and take your number"

"Nah I'm good"

Did she just tell me no? The fuck? Who says no?

"Why not?"

"Reasons"

"I just asked for your number. Something I never do and you're telling me no?"

"Yeah."

"Wow. Really?"

"I'm sorry but I'm declining your request. Thank you though"

I had the most confused look on my face like did the chick really just tell me no. Who tells me no? Nobody.

I couldn't believe she just declined me. In my face and all. I walked away and walked to Lonnie's car and sat in there. Just questioning my life. This is crazy. I've never been declined.

After talking to myself I come to the conclusion that I'm not going crazy she is. And she just lost out on me. I just gotta forget about her she wasn't that cute anyways. I'm lying but it helps me cope. I'll be fine without her. I was fine before I met her I'll be fine now. Lonnie returns with Chaz and we drive off and head home.
