Lonnie POV
There was no school today, but I was still determined to see her. I had to try and fix things.
My ego has to be pushed aside so I can do what I need to do.
It was about 9am and I couldn't wait any longer to get to her. Hopefully she's awake.
I get ready then drive over to her house.
Once I pulled up, I was nervous as hell. I had so much on my mind and I even planned what I was gonna say when she opened the door, but I was so nervous.
With every step I took toward her front door, my stomach sank further and further. I was so nervous that I wouldn't be surprised if I started sweating.
I had to pull it together because I was finally at her door. I took in a deep breath and exhaled slowly.
Calm down Lonnie. You've talked to her a million times. She's still the same person. You can do this.
I give myself a pep talk and confidently knock on her door six times. I wait for a moment then I get nervous again.
What if six wasn't enough knocks and she didn't hear? Or worse, what if it was too much and she's scared and doesn't want to open the door?
Cutting me out of my nervous train of thought I hear the locks on the door unlocking.
To my surprise, the person that opened the door was no where in my plan of coming over here. No line that I had rehearsed had prepared me for this moment.
I was so caught off guard that I was literally speechless. Meanwhile, he's just staring at me probably wondering why this random teenaged girl is at his doorstep looking dumbfounded.
His facial expression turned into a questioning look and I could almost feel the aggravation in the wrinkles in his face.
"Are you going to say something or are you just going to waste more of my time?" He asked with furrowed eyebrows.
"I.. um, is Chaz..sity home?" I fumble with my words, struggling to speak clear English.
"No, she isn't." He answers with a straight face.
Slightly more intimidated, I was disappointed by the answer I was given. Also in disbelief, I was thinking about how it was possible that she was anywhere else but home, being that she was in a wheel chair.
"Oh..." My eyes start roaming as I'm thinking of what to say next. My mouth manages to ask "Well, do you know when she will return?"
"No. I don't. And quite frankly she doesn't get to have friends over, especially none looking like you." His face remaining dry and emotionless, it was extremely clear with his opinion on masculine dressing females.
Feeling offended by his comment, I was confused on how to even respond.
"Look she's not here. You should leave now."
With no intent to argue with an adult, I just kindly said "thank you for your time."
As I was walking away, I heard the door slammed shut behind me.
