Pain Is Lonely

Author's POV:

It was the middle of the night. Fourth couldn't sleep well because of his back. It hurt and it destroyed his sleep. No matter how he tried to sleep, his pain made him sleepless.

"Baby? Come here!"

Gem came to the bed with some meds that he could apply to his back. Fourth eyes were wet because of the pain.

"Ahw!"

Fourth squeezed his eyes as the pain was getting worse. When he got back hurt he was patient. But this was different than them. Fourth could feel that and he began to sob.

"It hurts Gem!"

He sobbed. Gem quickly pulled on his top cloth and began to apply some meds. Fourth held his husband's hand and squeezed it when his pain became worse!

Gem felt sad. He didn't want it when his wife suffered from pain. He tried his best to calm him down and tried to make him painless as he could.

"Baby? Does this feel good?" Gem asked. He was still rubbing his wife's back up and down.

Fourth couldn't say anything. But it felt good. He nodded as an answer to his husband. Gem didn't stop the rub. He kept doing that till he went to sleep.

The next day came and Fourth's back pain was gone. He felt comfortable and he didn't remember how he fell asleep last night.

"Gem?"

He looked for his husband. Because Gem wasn't in bed. Fourth got up from the bed and went toward the door. But when he was about to open the door, Gem opened it.

"You are already up!"

Gem asked as closing the door. "How's your back, baby?" Gem asked and rubbed his back.

"It's fine now. Thank you for last night!" Fourth said and held his abdomen. "She is struggling!" Fourth announced with smiling. "She's awaken!' Gem said and gave a kiss on his lips.

"Don't thank me! Got it?" Gem asked him holding his cheeks. Fourth had known the mean of that. So he said nothing but nodded.

"I made breakfast. Let's go." Gem announced as he took Fourth downstairs.

That day afternoon, Gem's mom came to see him. Gem had gone to the shop. "Was Gem already gone to the shop?" She asked her closing the door. "Yeah. He went early today." Fourth answered.

"Son, did you prepare the hospital bag?" She asked and sat down on the sofa. Yes. Fourth has only four weeks left to give birth. Like nearly one month. Fourth smiled. "Gem and I tried to prepare it." He answered and went to the kitchen to make something to drink.

But she frowned. "What did you mean by try?' She asked. Fourth looked at her and chuckled before answering. "It can't do with Gem. He is crazy!" Suddenly he complained to his husband.

"What did he do?" She asks as her eyes get big. She couldn't wait there, sitting like that. She went to the kitchen as well. "Tell me..." She was greedy for hearing the gossip.

Fourth went smiled seeing her mom's face. He had known she couldn't wait till he said. He chuckled. "I told him that it's better if we prepare the hospital bag." He began by taking two cups.

She listens to him carefully. But there was a little grin in her mouth. "So... What did my idiot son do?" She asked rubbing his back gently. Seeing his pregnancy her day filled up with full of happiness. Because he was carrying her grandchild! Yes. The grandchild of her and her husband.

"Yeah!" He laughed. "He's an idiot!" He admitted her words right away. "He didn't listen to my words. When I said it didn't need more clothes for the baby and me he didn't listen." He explained.
