"It's Madam Manoban and..." A maid coincidentally 'passed by' Jennie's side. She spoke a little and rushed forward to bow to the pair.
Jennie was holding onto a teacup. Her hand paused in mid-air for a moment.
The elderly man in his sixties was the old Manoban family's mansion's butler, Mingde. The woman was Somi's adopted mother, Huang Zhishu.
As expected, the past events were repeating and they were attempting to mislead her.
Somi must have arranged for this maid to appear. Otherwise, there was no reason for someone to appear by her side and to only finish half of her sentence. Unfortunately, she had failed to see through this in her previous life.
Somi spoke up with some urgency, "We mustn't disrespect the elders. Let's go and bow to them."
Jennie's eyelids twitched a little. She sat without moving and noted internally that this was her second attempt to mislead her.
"Miss Kim, we cannot disrespect our elders." Somi spoke louder with 'good intentions'. "My cousin, Lisa, respects Madam Manoban very much. This is the same for Manoban... Aiyo, in any case, we cannot pretend not to see them."
In their previous life, Jennie had naturally assumed that Somi meant to address the second person as Grandfather Manoban.
The pitiful her had mistaken Somi's adopted mother to be Lisa's mother, and the elderly man to be Lisa's grandfather.
In a miserable sight, she had greeted Butler Mingde. "Grandfather, I'm your future daughter-in-law. Look, do you think you're satisfied with me?"
"And you, you're Lisa's mom, aren't you? Don't even think that I will address you as 'Mom'."
All the maids by the side had laughed at her. It was only after she turned around that she noticed Lisa supporting the actual Elder Manoban a short distance away. Furthermore, his actual parents were by his side as well.
At the thought of the humiliation from back then, Jennie resisted the urge to smash her head against a rock.
Somi saw that Jennie was still sitting. She looked back and saw that Lisa, Elder Manoban and his parents were approaching. She rushed to tug on Jennie. "Quick, let's go greet them!"
Jennie tugged her hand back and remained seated. "Greet who?"
"Our seniors, of course." Somi spoke as though this was the way it was supposed to be. "As juniors, we cannot neglect our elders."
She attempted to mislead her persistently.
Jennie continued to sip her tea as she responded indifferently. "You can go ahead."
"You..." A hint of viciousness flashed past Somi's gaze. Why wasn't this woman falling for her scheme?
Logically speaking, considering Jennie's good relationship with Lisa, she was supposed to be enthusiastic about pleasing the Manoban family's elders.
By now, Lisa had approached her along with Grandfather Manoban.
Jennie finally stood up. She bowed slightly towards the Manoban family's elder, Manoban Chongshan, and smiled to greet him. "Nice to meet you, Grandfather Manoban."
Chongshan was dressed in Zhongshan attire. His hair was combed backwards and his white moustache was long. His hair had also turned completely grey. Although his gaze was heavy from his years of experience, he appeared spirited and his eyes were sharp. It was obvious that he had been a legendary figure in his youth.
"You must be Jennie." Chongshan's tone was certain. He sized Jennie with his sharp gaze. He noticed that she was dressed appropriately and her appearance was outstanding. She moved gracefully like a noble.
Her appearance and the way she carried herself made her compatible for her grandson. Her family background was the only aspect that was slightly lacking.
Lisa's parents, Hong Manoban and Ye Yunzhi, stood behind Chongshan. His father appeared strict and intimidating, while his mother appeared dignified and elegant. With one glance, it was clear that they were outstanding individuals.
The two of them carefully sized Jennie up. They were surprised by her appearance but politely made sure that their gaze did not linger.
