She had invited some of the top players to come experience their new game, <Battlefield of Ducks>, which would soon be released.
In this game, players were assigned to groups and placed in a large battlefield holding a gun fight. The winning team would then be rewarded with a large roasted duck drumstick, thus giving the game its name, <Battlefield of Ducks>.
Jennie had applied for two weeks of marriage leave from Sheng Shi Group. Thus, she was able to work on her own matters while still carrying the title of the Sheng Shi Group's Design Manager.
At 3:00 in the afternoon, she came to Jiao Yang Gaming Company.
The press conference venue for the new game was on the sixth floor of the building.
The moment Jennie arrived on the sixth floor, she noticed Somi stepping out of the elevator next to hers. She was dressed in a strapless lavender gown.
Her hair was tied in a low bun with a few strands loosely framing her face. Considering that her make-up was exquisite and that she had worn a gown suitable for an evening party, it was clear she had taken great care to dress up today.
Kai followed right behind her, looking as refined as ever.
"Why are you here? Shouldn't you be working at the Sheng Shi Group right now?" Somi sized her up in surprise.
"I applied for a wedding leave." Jennie's answer was short. She headed forward without pausing any longer.
Somi took in her glowing appearance. Jennie appeared to be in an especially good mood.
In contrast, for the past few days, she...
Whenever she remembered that Lee Jingyuan, that damned old man, had given Jennie ten percent of the Lee Group's shares, she felt enraged. She had been angered to the point where she nearly spat out blood.
Kai took in Jennie's stunning appearance and could barely take his eyes away from her. It had only been a few days and she became even more beautiful. Her aura and charisma had grown even more attractive. Furthermore, she was now the owner of shares worth a billion dollars... she was a very wealthy woman!
He rushed forward to stop Jennie. "Jenjen, wait. I have something to say to you."
She shifted to the left to walk around him. "I have nothing to say to you."
He moved with her and continued obstructing her path. "It won't take long."
Jennie noticed some of the guests watching them. She did not wish to make a fuss and spoke directly. "I'll only give you a minute."
"I let you down in the past." Kai took in her dazzling appearance and finally voiced the remorse he had been experiencing for the past two years. "I really regret it. Can we start over again?"
Jennie appeared to have heard an especially humorous joke. "Kai, please take a good look at the situation. I'm your cousin-in-law! What do you mean by starting over again? Nothing ever began between us."
"So what if you're my cousin-in-law? Ever since we were young, you've clearly liked me..."
"I only pretended to do so for the sake of angering Lisa."
"But..." Kai wanted to continue when she raised her voice. "Get out of my way!"
He noticed that the guests passing by, were pausing in their tracks and did not wish for unpleasant rumours to spread.
He changed the topic and asked. "Are you headed to the Jiao Yang Gaming Company's press release? They are very strict about the entry today. Those without an invitation won't be able to enter the event."
The sixth floor was reserved for the press release event. Almost everyone was here for this event.
"All the guests invited today are famous, well-experienced players." Kai brought an invitation out. "This is my invitation. I'll give it to you."
"I don't need it."
"But as far as I know, you don't play games..."
"I told you to scram!" She frowned and considered calling the bodyguards over.
"Brother, let's head in. Don't pay her any mind." Somi tugged her brother's hand. The two of them handed their invitations over and successfully entered the event hall.
Post entering, they waited by the side to see her being embarrassed.
