For almost five months since the candy house opened, its popularity has continued to rise, so much that it reached every corner of the Evergreen Kingdom. Many merchants have tried to negotiate with the owner which is me but I only chose a few whom I believe I can trust and rely on in the future.
Not everyone knows that I’m the owner of this "out-of-this-world business," even though my second name is in the shop’s name. That’s why there are still lots of rumors and wild guesses floating around.
I do plan to reveal my identity soon, but I’ve been incredibly busy. My adventure quests keep piling up and in the past four months, I’ve only been able to return to the inn or visit the shop about three times a week due to the nonstop missions assigned to us.
But now I’m finally back in the village after we completed our latest mission in another town: clearing dungeons overrun by lizard-men. Some guild members from Sacrosas Town requested our help because these monsters had been attacking and stealing from them almost every night. So they sent us—C- and D-rank adventurers—to put an end to the chaos. It took us two months because there were fifteen dungeons in that area, and each one was massive. It was a challenge to locate the lizard-men’s main base. Even with my upgraded level and my army of slime familiars, it wasn’t an easy feat.
"Here’s your reward, Lily," Anne said with a smile as she pushed a tray toward me, on top of which was a small brown pouch filled with coins—the reward for clearing the dungeons.
"Thanks, Anne," I replied with a smile, taking the pouch and placing it in my bag.
"Hey, Lily, I think you should take a break," biglang sabi saakin ni Anne habang nakaturo sa aking mukha. "Look at your face, still as fairy-pretty as ever but I can clearly see how tired you are. Your eyebags are huge and you also lose weight!" she said, cupping my cheeks in concern.
I gave her an awkward smile at dahan-dahang umalis mula sa pagkakahawal niya.
I haven’t had decent sleep lately, mostly because of the danger we faced during missions and the exhaustion from using my powers. I heard Anne sigh as she held her own face in frustration while staring at me.
"But seriously, take care of yourself," she said again, more firmly this time.
"Alright, alright. Thanks for letting me know I look haggard. Yes, I should rest. I am tired," I admitted, letting out a big yawn.
"But first, I need to visit the shop and check on how things are going there," sabi ko habang naguunat nang braso.
"No. I don’t suggest you do that," Anne quickly said.
"It’s alright, Anne. I’ll just drop by quickly. I’m not planning to stay long, so it’s okay," I said gently, glancing behind me to see the adventurers entering the guild.
"No. I suggest that. YOU. SHOULD. TAKE. A. REST. FIRST," she said coldly.
I froze.
Slowly turning to her, I felt beads of sweat forming on my forehead as I saw her terrifying expression. Her aura was screaming danger.
‘Geez, she’s like Sam from my previous world. So scary,’ I thought, gulping as I remembered how my best friend used to transform from angel to demon in just a second, especially when I did something reckless.
‘She almost threw me outside my apartment window back then nang mahulog ako sa hagdan dahil sa kaka-cellphone ko. Not a good memory.’
"Okay, calm down, Anne! You’re right! I’ll take a rest first. The shop can wait. It’s not like it has legs and can run away, ha. ha. ha..." I laughed nervously, forcing a grin as her scary aura began to fade.
