TURNABOUT
Lana's POV
People change.
Some for the better, some for the worse.
"Congratulations. You finally remembered me."
Halos hindi ako makagalaw sa gulat habang tinititigan si Kiel.
That explains why he's always around me! He was grateful to me! He wanted to say thank you for what I did a few months ago! I can't believe I assumed he was into me! Kung ano ano pang inisip ko sa kanya!
"Oh my gosh. Oo nga pala! Pierera ang apelyido ng lalakeng 'yon! Wow! What a small world! Kumusta? How's your wound?" Tiningnan ko pa ang tiyan niya kahit may damit siyang suot. Akala mo naman, makikita ko ang sugat niya.
"And now she cares."
Namula yata ako dahil doon. I acted so rudely toward him. Hindi niya deserve 'yon!
"Sorry Kiel. Hindi ko naman kasi alam na kaya mo pala ako nilalapitan ay dahil gusto mong maalala kita. I thought you were trying to hit on me."
"If you weren't my savior, I definitely would have. Ganda mo kaya."
I exhaled and ignored his joke. "I wouldn't even guess it was you. What happened that night?"
"It was an act of stupidity. Nagpunta ako dito na hindi kasama si Rios, kaya napuruhan nila ako."
"Why would they want to kill you in the first place?"
"Nagkapikunan lang," simpleng sagot niya. "I wasn't in the mood that night, so I pissed them off even more." Tumawa pa siya na tila hindi siya natakot sa nangyari.
I bit my lower lip, remembering how desperately he had been trying to survive that evening. Sa totoo lang, nakalimutan ko na nga iyon, kaya siguro hindi ko rin naisip na posibleng si Kiel ang natulungan ko. I was so busy with my own life that I forgot to think about him.
"I'm glad you're okay now. Sobrang natakot ako no'ng gabing 'yon. I thought your enemies would see you. Nasaan na nga pala sila?"
"Last I heard, they're in jail. Nakapag-bail pa yata ang isa sa kanila? I'm not sure. But don't worry, it's all been taken care of."
"Legally, I hope?"
He smirked. "Yeah, hopefully." He ran a hand through his hair and tilted his head to the side. "Bakit pala nawala ka na lang basta? The number you gave the police couldn't be contacted."
"Ah. Nasira kasi 'yung phone ko noong gabing iyon. It took me months to replace it, tapos nagbago na rin ako ng number."
"That explains it. I would have looked for you, but honestly, I only remembered you when I saw you at the game."
Pagkatapos kong malaman na si Kiel pala ang tinulungan ko, nagbago ang tingin ko sa kanya. Gumaan ba ang loob ko. Pakiramdam ko nga matagal ko na siyang kaibigan na ngayon ko lang nakita muli.
