The bismuths worked tirelessly on the new buildings, shape-shifting their hands into hammers and all sorts of tools to create new skyscraper like creations requested by yellow diamond herself for her new plan to modernise homeworld's biggest cities. As steven approached them, nervously holding onto Pearl's hand, many stopped to salute him or smile at him, many started to gossip among eachother as many rumours about their new diamond had already spread across homeworld, many gems believed steven will be a much different leader and a fresh start in this new era.
Steven let go of Pearl's hand and stood next to one of the buldings being made, looking up at the working gems, not knowing what he should say and instead waiting for a gem to speak to him. "Hey there!", one bismuth said, jumping down from one of the highest points of the buildings and landing right in front of steven, creating a small crator under them, shaking him and nearly making him fall to the ground, he tried to awkwardly compose himself and salute to her, saying, "Greetings loyal gem!", trying to do his leader voice and failing miserably.
The bismuth laughed at this, the other ones working who were watching also laughed, but not in a mocking way. "so you're the new diamond?" The bismuth said, out stretching her hand, her voice was very friendly, "yes! I am steven diamond universe!", he proudly replied, shaking bismuth's hand. Pearl slightly cringed and lapis laughed at how cute he was being, sapphire was quiet, watching him very closely, her face showed no emotion, her mouth was completely straight and she didn't move, it was slightly scary.
"Well...my diamond, what do you think of our progess!", bismuth said, taking steven by the hand and showing him the giant building, letting him look inside some of the rooms, all the other bismuths where now calling down to him and waving. "It looks great!", Steven told them, touching the metal walls and looking at all the complex details and building techniques that earth couldn't even begin to rival, "you gems are very skilled! You make amazing things!", he told them. All the bismuths started to talk among eachother about this new diamond, "wow she's the kindest diamond!", "and the smallest!", Steven at first felt a bit uncomfortable about all the gossip but soon started to love it, he started to fly up to the top of the bulilding and greet each bismuth, talking to them like he was their equal and not their leader, soon other bismuths working on other things started to call to him, "Hey Steven! What do you think of my building!", "what do you think of the bridge I made!", "steven look at me!", "no look at me!", he flew to each one, speaking to them, laughing with them, he was unlike all the other diamonds, and they loved it.
"You wouldn't see blue diamond do that!", lapis laughed, walking next to pearl who was watching steven fly around, "I think she would now, she has changed so much", pearl replied, sapphire started to move near them, looking up to pearl, "what is blue diamond like now? and how has she changed?", she asked, pearl took a deep breath, "Blue diamond is barely the same gem she was before Steven's birth", she said, still only keeping her eyes only on steven, "I do not know what caused it, I only have theories, but as soon as she met greg, the human father of steven, she started to become like him and change greatly" pearl's hands formed into fists, her voice cracked, "when steven was born her personality completely changed, all of her old diamond qualities died, I blame greg for this", "interesting", the Sapphire replied, her voice still as emotionless as ever.
Steven flew across all the main new buildings of homeworld, he spoke to probably thousands of bismuths in only a small ammount of time, asking about what the new buildings where for, if they where enjoying their job, if they could make certain crazy ideas he had. When he wanted to return to pearl and the others, he flew around once again, waving to them and promising they'll meet again, shaking their hands and saluting at them. "That was amazing!", Steven exclaimed, flying back down next to pearl, "great you enjoyed that my steven, but it is night soon, I recommended you return to your mother", pearl replied, Steven agreed and followed her back to his mother's room, he skipped the way back, happily telling lapis and sapphire about all the things the bismuths told him.
"Those gems are known for their friendly attitude" sapphire said, "I was once very close with one, she made some of the best weapons, I wonder what became of her", the Sapphire looked away and wondered to herself, she remembered her old friend, one of the original crystal gems, Steven could see those thoughts and those memories of her bismuth friend, "I could maybe try and help you find her", steven said, shocking sapphire, "you would? But she is a traitor to you?", the Sapphire refused to believe him, but steven was genuine, "you're a traitor too, but look how nice I am being to you", Steven replied.
The 4 of them all made their way to blue's palace, Steven couldn't wait to tell his mother about the time he spend with the bismuths, he imagined how proud she'd be of him and how it would be the first way he'd show his strong leadership skills on homeworld. As they got closer to her room steven practised all the things he'd tell her, lapis laughed at this, she found him so adorable and told him to just act natural. As they opened the door, Steven standing proudly, they where all met by a shocking site.
Yellow diamond and greg were sitting on the floor talking, greg was very openly flirting with yellow, and she was flirting back. During this, blue diamond (who was for some reason wearing nothing but a curtain wrapped around her, sandals and a red bandana) and pink where fighting, well more like blue was punching pink in the head while screaming, "DONT TOUCH MY GREG!!!", when pearl loudly cleared her throat greg and the diamonds all looked at them in horror then quickly tried to go back to normal, acting like steven hadn't just seen that terrible site. "What did I just see!?", Steven cried, everyone awkwardly looked at eachother, "oh just me having to deal with the effects of the old universe charm!", Greg laughed, "these diamond girls go crazy for me!".
