"So aunt yellow and her pearl are staying here now!?", Steven called to his mother, trying to hide his anger at this sudden revelation. "Not just her, we've got pink and garnet back on my ship", blue called, she was getting dressed in the downstairs bathroom, "they won't fit here so I'm keeping them there for now", she threw on her old dress, it looked so strange now that she didn't have her hairloop anymore.
Steven huffed and lay down flat on the couch, when he turned he noticed yellow's pearl was watching him, he flinched jumped off the couch. "h-hey...", was all he could say, she started to laugh at him, "scared? Steven diamond?", she asked in a mocking tone, her voice was so annoying sounding compared to other pearls. "WHAT!? N-NO!...erm I just didn't expect to see you there...", he studdered, starting to blush from embarrassment, the pearl laughed louder and louder, getting the attention of yellow diamond and blue's pearl.
"What are you laughing about, pearl?", yellow asked in a threatening tone, she stood behind pearl, even when smaller than her usual giant size she towered over the pearl. Yellow's pearl turned around, she gulped when she made eyecontact with her diamond, sweat starting to run down her face. Blue diamond's pearl was also watching from not far away, she couldn't hide how satisfying this was for her, she started to laugh now, thankfully it was quiet enough for anyone to not notice.
The pearl nervously took some steps back, "my diamond, I promise its not what it looks like", he backed into the couch, yellow started to walk towards her, the pearl frantically looking around, she was whimpering. "Are you sure pearl? Because I think I saw everything I needed to see", yellow raised her right arm, her pearl flinched and covered her face with her arms, knowing what was about to happen. Yellow's facial expression stayed blank and straight as bright yellow energy started to come from her raised hand.
"WAIT! Don't hurt her!", Steven cried, jumping from the couch and landing inbetween them, "I forgive her! You don't need to punish her!", yellow raised an eyebrow, even the pearl was shocked. yellow lowered her hand, "fine, but you, as a diamond shouldn't allow such gems to speak down to you like this, especially a pearl as chatty as mine", yellow moved steven out the way, "come now, pearl", the pearl stood back up and followed her to another room, Steven wanted to ask where they were going but was interrupted by the bathroom door bursting open dramatically and blue diamond walking out, wearing her old clothes.
"What was yellow freaking out about now?", blue asked, sitting on the couch and putting on some Filipino soap opera series she way too obsessed with. "Her pearl was being a bit mean to me so she tried to attack her and I had to intervene", Steven answered, moving to the other couch and trying to ignore the overly dramatic garbage his mother was watching at max volume.
"You should've let yellow punish her", pearl said, sitting next to him. Steven turned around to look at her, "w-what!?", he exclaimed, visibly shocked, pearl repeated herself, "you should've let yellow punish her", steven shook his head, "no way! Even if yellow's pearl can be annoying...OK all the time she is...that doesn't mean she needs to be hurt for that!", pearl rolled her eyes, she'd been more ok with showing her eyes lately so steven saw this, she didn't care about hiding her emotions anymore. "I've spent my entire life with her, I know what should be done", Pearl's voice was so harsh sounding, Steven had never heard her like this, was this the real pearl? And the one who was there for his whole life and basically raised him all a fake!? "What's gotten into you!? You sound so different!", Steven yelled, getting up from the couch, "you don't even sound like the pearl I know! Was the pearl I knew fake!?", now blue had noticed their conversation and was no longer completely immersed in the drama, but she continued to stay silent, fearing shed just make it worse, thats what greg always told her.
Steven stormed off, (mostly because he felt tears starting to form and he didn't want his powers going off and everyone knowing he was upset) and stomped up the stairs to his room. pearl didn't follow him, she just sighed and crossed her arms, looking over to see yellow's pearl who had returned, this time without her ego and looking much more cautious than usual, she nervously looked over to blue's pearl, who gave her a terrifyingly unnatural looking wide smile. Blue got up from the couch, turned off the TV and snarled at pearl before going up to see Steven, "what did you do?", she asked her, "I'm not sure", she replied, she sounded very cocky, it angered blue but she'd punish her later, right now only steven mattered.
As blue was walking up the stairs she bumped into lapis, she'd been messing with the upstairs toilet for a while now, she just found it as a fun way to use her powers. "Did you see Steven come up here?", blue asked, "I'm very sorry My diamond, but I didn't, is anything wrong?", she asked, her voice sounding worried, "don't worry, it's nothing bad, I just saw him go up here and I was wondering if you saw him too", blue replied, acting like nothing bad had happened and smiling.
Blue walked past lapis and to Steven's room. Before she could open the door, she was stopped by greg putting his hand over hers. "What'cha doin' blue-blue?", he asked, "just saying hi to steven", she responded, trying to gently move his hand away from hers. "What about me? You haven't checked on me since we got here?", he tried to move in front of her and block the door, blue tried to hide her frustration, but it was written all over her face. "Just let me see Steven, I'll be with you then", she said, this time less patient, "you mad? Why are you so angry blue-blue?", greg asked, leaning on the door. Blue very lightly pushed him away, even when holding back so much she sent him far with just a small push, "that's why I'm angry, you're in my way!", she told him, now finally opening the door to see her son.
When blue opened the door she saw steven laying on his cookie cat themed bed, texting connie. When he heard the door open he immediately turned around and tried to hide his phone under the bed sheets. "Steven? Are you okay?", blue asked, closing the door behind her and sitting down next to him on his bed, "you looked upset? Was it pearl? I heard her say something but not all of it", "oh it's nothing, she just kinda scared me that's all", steven replied, more worried about her seeing him on his phone than anything else right now. "How did she scare you?", blue asked, Steven looked away, he didn't know how to fully explain it but that small conversation completely changed how he viewed pearl, now he was questioning all the times they spent together, it was messing with all his good memories.
"She just was acting so different, nothing like the pearl we know! She was more cruel, are pearls faking how they actually are to other gems!?", he cried, there was so much pain in his voice, he was trying his best not to cry, he couldn't stop rethinking his entire life that he spent with her. "what if the pearl we know isn't how she really is what if-", "enough", blue put her hand in front of Steven's face, it reminded him of that dream he had with pink on the moon base. "I've knew pearl ever since she was made, there's nothing she can hide from you, and definitely nothing she can hide from me, if you have any concerns, trust me, they're nothing to worry about", "BUT-", he tried to speak up again, "no buts, trust me, Steven".
As blue and steven spoke the door opened again, steven flinched and thought it was pearl, blue turned around, ready to yell at whoever it was for interrupting her time with her son but the both of them where shocked into silence when greg and yellow diamond both walked in, they'd been talking and laughing together outside while blue was with steven. "You two...", blue said under her breath, confused to why they'd even be talking, especially since yellow literally killed greg.
"WHO WANTS TO GO ON A ROAD TRIP!... IN MY NEW CAR!", Greg yelled, showing an ad with a fancy overpriced car. "don't you have your van?", blue asked, "why need another car?", "because", he lead blue and steven out the room, to the window to see the extremely expensive, brand new car sitting outside. "this bad baby is brand new, I'm one of the first people to get it and i gotta test it!". "Earth technology has improved quite a lot greg universe", yellow diamond said, also looking out the window, "want me to drive you around in it? Show ya some of the earth?" Greg asked her, yellow laughed at this, "I can drive it myself, human, but you can sit with me and be my guide". Both steven and blue watched them in shock. They both couldn't believe how friendly they were to each other.
"I'll be your guide off course big girl", greg winked at her, yellow laughed some more, Steven couldn't help but cringe and cover his eyes, blue was frozen in shock and horror, greg was flirting with not just another gem but her sister right in front of her and he didn't care that she could see, blue wanted to cry and throw up but she knew she shouldn't, she deserved this for all greg had done for her and what she had done to the universe, well that's what she believed and that's what greg told her to believe.
