Steven lay in his bed, he had just woken up from another strange dream, in the dream he was standing in the corner of a small dark, gray room, while his mother and pink diamond argued about something he couldn't make out, it was blury and the sound was muffled, it kept repeating none stop and he couldn't move, the dream had made his entire body feel so uncomfortable.
Steven grabbed his phone that was hidden under his pillow and checked the time, the bright light of the phone shining in his eyes, it was 3 am, he mumbled and put the phone back under his pillow, he put his hand over his eyes, trying to sleep again, hoping the next dream won't be weird.
When his eyes opened he was laying on the floor of the kindergarten, he looked around and got up, somehow his clothes where perfectly clean eventhough the floor was covered by dirt, dust and mud, fog was everywhere and it was abandoned like usual. As he walked around and assessed his environment, a gem suddenly burst out of the ground, it was undoubtedly amethyst, she looked around and got up, not knowing what to do, her hair was so short back then, she even looked younger. "This must be some sort of vision of the past", Steven thought to himself, watching the lonely amethyst wonder around her birthplace, no other gem of her type to help her find her purpose, "this must be one of mum's powers like her past vision or maybe something different something not even she has-", suddenly steven woke up, it was morning and he was back in his bed, he sat up and looked out at the bright sunny day, "another weird dream", he huffed, "I specifically asked for a normal one too".
Steven got out his bed and got dressed, he put on the usual dark blue pants that where too big on him and his dark blue Mr universe shirt with the signature cut in it to show some of his gem. After he was dressed he looked at himself in the mirror for a bit, making sure his gem was clean and his hair looked as great as it usually does. Steven pointed to his reflection in the mirror, "you are not just the son of a diamond, but you are a diamond yourself!", he told himself, "you can do whatever you want and order all types of gems and no one can control you!", he was preparing himself for a secret plan he had that he knew he had to keep secret.
Steven opened his bedroom door and stuck his head out, he needed to make sure he couldn't hear anyone and no one would be able to hear him, he looked downstairs and everyone seemed to be speaking to eachother in the kitchen. "great!", he breathed a sigh of relief, "I don't think anyone will get in my way now", he retreated back into his room, closing the door after, he thought about freezing the door shut incase anyone tried to open it but knew that would just make it more suspicious, "Alright, its time", he said, taking out the diamond line which he had stole from blue diamond.
The screen opened and revealed amethyst talking with her fellow gems and other similar looking ones with red and orange skin, when she noticed the diamond line had activated, all the gems around her panicked and ran away. "BLUE DIA- steven!?", amethyst quickly calmed down and started to laugh when she realised who it was, trying to get the other gems to come back. "Hey, amethyst! I'm just checking up. How are you?", Steven asked, looking at all the gems trying to hide and secretly watch in the background, some he recognised from when he went to the zoo. "Oh it's fine, today is actually quite special! the PERFECT jasper I've heard so much about is here to visit us actually! I think I saw her back on homeworld but it's my first time meeting her she's so cool and strong! You should see her-, "what is going on! What are you useless chunks of earth doing!?", suddenly the very loud and unmistakable voice of holly blue agate took over, making steven unable to hear what Amethyst was trying to say.
"I'm deeply sorry My diamond if these hideous earth made creatures where causing you any trouble", holly blue walked into view of the screen, trying to push amethyst away and speak to Blue herself as her loud heels hitting the ground made amethyst even more difficult to understand. "Oh my diamond, how I've missed you so mu- oh! Steven? Where is blue diamond? isn't this diamond line made for her and this amethyst's communication supposed to only belong to her?", a small sweat ran down Steven's head as he quickly tried to come up with excuses, if holly blue knew this call was secret she'd definitely tell blue and she'd be so mad that he took her diamond line!
"Oh mum is busy right now", Steven lied, he hoped the screen quality over there wasn't good enough to see his very nervous expression, since he was a diamond hopefully no one would question his excuses. "but she did want to check up on amethyst so got me to do it instead..", "fine, very well, but please do not report to my diamond about the current state of the zoo's gems", holly blue replied, amethyst smirked back at steven, giving him a thumbs up for his great lying skills, "the jaspers have been running around because of a certain...visitor, its been chaos, its great my diamond wasn't here to see this, she'd probably have me shatter them", holly continued as she walked away, her loud and annoying voice echoing through the halls, both steven and amethyst both sighed from relief when she couldn't be heard anymore, she was probably still rambling to herself about all the troubles her amethysts caused her.
"So now that she's gone there is something I really want to ask you", Steven whispered, pulling the screen closer so she could still hear him well. "Oh yeah? What's that?", she replied, Steven nervously looked around the room before he answered, "well....I was wondering if you and the gems at the zoo, even including that jasper would like to come back to earth for a bit, you know to revisit your old homes?", he waited for the response, he was so scared he was secretly being listened in on by someone and kept looking around. "Fine! seems great, we'll try and all get there, and if holly blue throws a tantrum ill just tell her it was a command by steven diamond himself! But there's one issue, the jasper that's visiting isn't under blue diamond aka you, she's under yellow", "that's OK, yellow diamond is here, on earth, she won't mind to see one of her best gems here!", Steven quickly replied, not really thinking what he just said through, "really? Isn't she like really strict?", "Not much when you get to know her! Come on please try and bring that jasper, I've heard so much about her! I really want to meet her!", "fine", amethyst said, "I'll go and tell her now", then the screen closed and the call ended, turning back into the diamond line.
"Phew!", Steven lay back on his bed, so thankful no one had heard that, he'd been missing amethyst for a long time and really wanted to check up on her, that dream he had was the last straw, he felt so bad for her, it must have been awful in the kindergarten all alone. "Hopefully she'll be here soon... wait a minute...", Steven just had a sudden realisation that this plan might not be the best hit him, "there's a lot of gems there at the zoo how will they get here and not cause a scene!? What if yellow really isn't going to react to this well!? Blue will definitely know I stole her diamond line now! OH NO WHAT HAVE I DONE IM SO STUPID!".
As steven laid back, regretting his actions and wondering if he should call amethyst and tell her to cancel before its too late, the door suddenly opened and pearl walked in, "my steven, have you seen the diamond li- oh there it is", she gently took it from his hand, not even questioning why he had it, "blue diamond needs it, she's going to be calling one of your friends, you haven't seen them in a while and she was wondering if you would like to have them visit earth again?", Pearl's voice was quiet and calm again, it was the fake work persona steven had grew up with, it was so nostalgic yet also slightly disturbing now that he knew it was all fake. "Amethyst? Yes I'd love to see her!", Steven replied, "then you will", pearl said, giving steven a small smile before leaving the room with the diamond line and closing the door behind her. "Wow me and mum must think the same", Steven said to himself, looking over to the picture of his parents together hung up on the wall, "maybe I won't get into trouble for this".
