"So when are we going to tell her?", Steven asked yellow diamond, just before he was going to reveal to jasper the shocking truth about her diamond both blue and yellow told him not to. They've been hiding the truth from homeworld and it's been starting to really anger steven, ever since he saw that zircon at that trial still saying it was rose who shattered pink and a not an entire staged event he's felt that the diamonds had been lying to their gems. "Soon, I promise, but it will be a big shock to all gems", yellow replied, she was sitting opposite to him on the other couch, blue had gone somewhere, neither of them knew where but she's been gone for long enough it must be something important.
"I understand it will shock a lot of gems, but look how loyal jasper still is to her! She still needs to know the truth!", Steven gestured over to the door, jasper was sadly looking through the door, waiting for an order from her new diamond to reveal to her the truth about her old leader, it broke steven seeing her like this, he felt awful for her. Yellow waved jasper away and went back to talking to steven, "steven you're young, you'll understand why we do such things for our gems when you are older, you're still in training", and right after yellow said that the warp activated, there stood blue diamond and another person who caught steven off guard.
"G-GARNET!?", Steven gasped, he jumped off the couch and rushed to her, giving her a big hug, "you and mum are together!? What were you guys doing?", he asked, shocked and confused to see her here. "We where moving the corrupted gems from the old crystal gem temple to be with the ones I also have, I'm suprised they all survived after....you know", blue said, stepping off the warp and going to sit next to yellow. "I won't be staying soon steven", garnet said, instantly turning stevens excitement into disappointment, "there's an old abandoned ship blue diamond told me is infested by corrupted gems, I'm going to be checking on them In case they are at risk of escaping their ship and causing possible harm to humans".
"Can I come?", Steven asked, "I just beat jasper those corruptions won't be too dangerous for me!", garnet slowly nodded, not sure if blue would be ok with this, "YEAH!", Steven exclaimed, jumping in the air and rushing onto the warp. "Can I also come?", a familar voice asked, garnet and steven turned to see amethyst standing by the door. "amethyst!", garnet said, "we haven't seen eachother in a long time", "yeah it's a long story, I haven't done missions in a while, I was startin' to miss them", she walked onto the warp, "guess I'll join ya!", garnet begrudgingly allowed her onto the warp, "fine", she said, "but this mission isn't really about attacking gems, we are just checking to see if they pose any possible threats".
They warped to a small hill, right in front of them was a giant, old, overgrown ship. "Woah", Steven said quietly, taking some steps forward to get a closer look, "these are from when gems first came here", garnet explained, "before they put down warp pads to travel around-", "YEAH THAT DOESN'T MATTER WHERE ARE THE MONSTERS!", amethyst yelled, rushing past them and summoning her whip, immediately dashing towards the door. "AMETHYST NO!", garnet called to her, trying to chase after her before she broke the door down but she was too late, amethyst dashed through the door and was now standing in a room filled with corrupted gems covering the walls, as soon as they saw her they all started screeching, causing green acid to shoot out their mouths and burn parts of the ship, "why did she!?", garnet mumbled, face palming then summoning her gauntlets, amethyst would definitely need their help now.
The corrupted gems where black and green, with messy white hair and long, bug like bodies, and long beaks with sharp teeth, inside those beaks they had one green eye, they circled amethyst, spitting acid at her. She was able to dodge attacks from some and be able to attack a few but she was very out numbered, not even summoning two whips was enough for her to attack all of them. "AMETHYST!", Steven yelled, running into the ship with garnet, garnet turned her gauntlets into rockets and shot at some of the corruptions, poofing a few of them, but not enough, Steven immediately ran to their gems and picked them up, bubbling them. "woah! I didn't know I could do this!", he exclaimed, right after he said that a corruption crawled up behind him, it spat acid at him and he flew up to dodge it, "sorry about this!", he said, holding the bubble in one hand and summoning his scythe, he flew down to the corruption and sliced it's head off, making it poof and return to its gem form, he grabbed its gem before it hit the ground and put it in his bubble, making it slightly bigger.
"WHAT WHERE YOU THINKING!?", garnet reprimanded amethyst, "WHY ARE YOU GETTING IN MY WAY!", amethyst yelled back, "IM SICK OF PEOPLE HAVING TO SAVE ME LIKE IM WEAK AND CAN'T DO ANYTHING ON MY OWN!", tears started to run down her face, Steven could tell this was because of what jasper had said about her. "WHY WONT YOU JUST LET ME PROVE TO YOU IM STRONG ENOUGH TO HANDLE THIS ON MY OWN!", "amethyst please..." Steven tried to walk towards her, "LEAVE ME ALONE!", she yelled back at him, "no amethyst wait!", "I SAID LEAVE!", "no look behind YOU!", "what?", she finally listened and turned around, only to be met by the biggest of the remaining corruptions grabbing her with their tail and squeezing her, causing her to poof, her gem fell to the ground, nearly cracking when it hit the ground.
"NOOOO!", Steven cried, grabbing her gem and nearly popping the bubble he was holding. Garnet jumped in front of him and started to attack the remaining corruptions, "STEVEN!", she yelled, "GET OUT OF HER WITH AMETHYST'S GEM!", Steven nodded and ran out the ship with the bubble. He sat on the hill by the warp, keeping the bubble next to him and holding her gem. He was fighting the urge to cry. "Amethyst, please...", he could feel the tears starting, he held her gem to his chest tightly, hugging it, "please come back, I'm so sorry jasper said that, I beat her for you, you're not weak", he start sobbing, the blue aura filling all around as he cried, he could still hear garnet fighting, he was terrfied his power was going to effect her and get her hurt.
Suddenly, the ship went completely silent, Steven waited, still crying and tightly holding amethyst's gem, the worst possible scenarios rushing through his head. Finally, after some time of complete silence, Garnet walked out holding some bubbled gems. "don't worry, she'll be back soon", garnet said, getting rid of her gauntlets and gently wiping away Steven's tears. "a-are y-you s-sure?", Steven studdered, getting up and trying to stop his crying as he picked up his bubble, "yes, this happens to her all the time, you have nothing to worry about", she lead him to the warp, her hand on his shoulder.
Steven and garnet warped back home, yellow and blue where cuddling on the couch and immediately jumped away from eachother when they saw they had returned, Steven didn't judge, he assumed it was something they always did since they where so close. "She still isn't back yet", Steven huffed, looking at amethyst's gem as garnet gave blue their bubbles, "she'll be back soon, I told you", garnet reassured him, "I hope you're right", he replied, slumping down on the couch, holding the gem in both his arms.
"What's wrong with steven?", blue asked Garnet, "amethyst lost her physical form when trying to attack the corruptions, I told her not to but she didn't listen", she explained, "oh...", blue looked back to steven, he looked miserable, "that was quite stupid of her, I wonder why she did that". "she said she felt weak, but what she did was ridiculous", garnet and blue moved away from steven to continue talking, they knew he was probably listening in. "maybe she was trying to prove herself? When she's back I'll go through her thoughts and tell you exactly", blue sent the bubbles given to her to their new space on her ship, the palanquin was now too small for all the bubbles she had. "those where nephrite pilots!", yellow excitedly said, the most emotion garnet had ever seen in her, "Hopefully we will be able to heal all of those very soon!",she'd already tried healing corruptions before but it never went well, "We will try healing them later, right now let's check on steven", blue replied, not seeming to put much thought into what yellow said.
Steven was still waiting for his friend to come back, losing faith each minute, "this is longer than usual, maybe she's taking her time making a new form in there", garnet said, standing behind steven, right after she said this the gem started to glow and float into the air as amethyst formed, she gently landed on the ground and opened her eyes. "erm...hey guys", she awkwardly said, looking around, "AMETHYST!!!", Steven cried, leaping off the couch and tackling her in a big hug, she was now wearing the blue diamond uniform like the other amethysts just with a smaller diamond in the middle and diamonds on her knees, similar to her old crystal gem look.
"I missed you so much!", Steven started to cry again, making everyone else cry, "chill out dude! I probably wasn't gone that long! I do this all the time!", amethyst said through tears as she tried to push him off her, steven didn't budge he continued hugging her while crying, she couldn't move or escape, just awkwardly look at the gems watching her, it felt so embarrassing. "This is so cute!", blue said, "no its not", yellow mumbled, crossing her arms and snarling, "he shouldn't get too attached to his subjects, especially a quartz soldier! they're easily replacable, a diamond shouldn't miss them, but he will", "come on yellow cheer up!", "no! He needs to learn and this is doing the opposite!", yellow raised her voice, getting everyone's attention. When she saw everyone was looking at her, she angrily stormed off.
