As steven flew across the vast desert, holding the bubbled bismuth gem, he noticed a warp pad appear in the sand, he landed and stood near the warp, "guess I didn't need to fly home after all!", he thought to himself, breathing a sigh of relief and taking some small steps closer to the warp pad. Before he stepped on the warp pad he looked up to the bubbled gem, he looked around the seemingly endless sand and hills surrounding him, then, gently popped the bubble, the gem floated in the air and glowed, soon the large bismuth gem formed, she was wearing a dark apron with a star on it and her gem was in her chest and like all bismuth gems she had long rainbow hair. When bismuth touched the ground, she nervously looked around with her hands formed as fists, looking like she was defending herself, when she saw steven she immediately froze.
Steven gulped and took some steps back, not knowing what to say, he had finally freed this gem those visions had been leading him too but didnt know what to say to her or how to introduce himself. "Hey...little guy..", bismuth said, crouching down to Steven's level, smiling at him. "I think I'm lost, and since you seem to be the only person here, how about a little help?", Steven pointed to the warp pad, "I think there's someone who wants to see you, that's why I..", he looked back to the still sleeping pink lion, "...freed you?".
Steven and bismuth warped to his house, the basement door was closed and they where hidden under the living room. "stay here for now!", Steven whispered to bismuth, making her hide in the corner, she could barely fit. Steven crawled out the basement, making sure to not reveal bismuth, and looked for garnet, thankfully she was there, she had just returned not to long ago from finding some corrupted gems. "Garnet!", Steven called, standing in front of the basement, a giant smile on his face, "I don't know if you remember this! Well half of you would but I have something really special to show you! Something I promised you!", "go on..", garnet responded, none of the possibilities her future vision showed her revealing his real present.
Steven ran back to the basement and opened the door, "bismuth! Come out!", he called, he gently held her by the hand and helped out out from the basement, garnet froze, she made her glasses dissappear, revealing tears forming in her three eyes, "garnet, what is this?", bismuth asked, looking around Steven's home, "is this some sort of wooden base?", she didnt see to notice the portraits of blue diamond on the walls.
Garnet ran to bismuth and hugged her, a very rare sight to see her this emotional,"where have you been!? We thought you where shattered?", "me!? Shattered!? Homeworld wouldn't be able to leave a single scratch on this gem!", bismuth laughed, Steven awkwardly stood in the corner, this was something too crystal gem for a diamond like him to understand. "So you guys are friends! Sapphire told me a bit about you, you're a crystal gem right?" Steven interrupted the reunion, "bismuth is one of the original crystal gems!", garnet told him, this is the happiest he had ever seen her. "You've been gone for so long, I remember rose said she lost you during one of the wars most serious battles", garnet told her, as soon as rose was mentioned bismuth's face fell, she immediately tried to hide it with a fake smile and went to see Steven.
"so who are you? You're the first person I saw after...I don't know how long, are you a new recruit to the crystal gems?", she smiled at him, but steven was cringing, he knew he couldn't tell her the truth, maybe he had to become a fake crystal gem for the 2nd time. "I'm steven, I found you in a lion and now you're in my house, I'm half human half gem", he said, not revealing anything about his real identity, and making sure the giant blue diamond gem couldn't be seen under his torn clothes.
"Where is rose?", bismuth asked, turning back to see garnet, a long, awkward silence filled the room, "oh rose is...", Steven mumbled, honestly he didn't know where she was, probably in gem jail or being used as a punching bag by blue diamond. "Rose is gone", garnet spoke up, "gone where?", bismuth didn't seem to understand what garent meant, "And where is everybody else? The rest of the crystal gems? You know the good old, biggs, snowflake, little larimar-", "theyre gone too", garnet replied. "most crystal gems probably ended up as corrupted after the war", Steven quietly told her, "what do you mean?", bismuth asked, a small panic in her voice, "it's best if we show you", garnet said, stepping on the warp pad, the mood had changed so quickly.
They warped to an old battle field, now overgrown and covered in strawberries, old weapons still surrounded the place, poking out of bushes and becoming one with the nature around them, the worst, most intense battles of the rebellion where fought there, thousands of gems died there. "How long was I gone!?", bismuth cried, running off the warp and looking at the old battle field, everything had become completely unrecognisable, "over 5 thousand years now", garnet told her softly, following after her. "woah, I've never been here before! is this where the crystal gems used to fight?", Steven followed behind them, looking at the old weapons left behind, he could see an old shield with the symbol of the diamonds on it he picked it up and brought it with him. "Are we the only members left of the crystal gems!? Where is pearl!? And they got rose too!?", garnet only slowly nodded. Steven had finally catched up, he was spending so long looking at old weapons that he had got lost for a bit. "Oh hey there....maybe this isn't the right time", Steven mumbled, bismuth was now crying while pulling out some of the old abandoned weapons, "I can't believe they got pearl!", she yelled, pulling out a giant axe, "these damn homeworld gems know no end to their brutality!".
"pearl? I know where she is!", Steven spoke up, bismuth looked towards him, still holding the giant axe, "what? You do?", "she was taken by white diamond!", he exclaimed, "WHAT!?", bismuth yelled, dropping the axe on the ground, shaking the floor and making steven drop the old diamond shield he had stolen. "I know where rose is too... well kinda, I've seen her! I think my mum knows where she is!". "steven do not get HER involved", garnet quietly snapped at him, she didn't want blue diamond knowing anything about bismuth's reappearance. "Those diamonds must have rose and pearl, they where the first rebells, they'll pay for this, I'll make sure of it, I've made the perfect weapon for this...", bismuth mumbled to herself while she continued searching for old crystal gem remnants in the old warzone.
"Why not? She'll definitely know where pink is!", Steven whispered to garnet, both of them talking in secret while bismuth looked around the old battlefield. "she will shatter bismuth as soon as she sees her! Blue diamond maybe your family but that doesn't mean you know what she's really like! I've seen the truth, we may be working together for now but I'll never obey that shatterer!", garnet whispered back, making sure bismuth didn't hear any of what they where saying.
