The dramatic battle scene continued to play from Pearl's gem, showing yellow and blue diamond, back to back, holding their giant weapons and slicing at the animals that attacked them from all angles. Steven started to feel uncomfortable as he watched, Greg could see this, he was huddled around the corner, secretly trying to unlock his new powers, but became distracted by the projection being played on the walls, he could see his son start to look down at his feet and refuse to watch any more.
"You're great at this blue, and they call me the warrior diamond!", yellow called, to blue as she cut down more creatures, destroying more of the remaining environment in the process. blue grinned as she flew up and decapitated another giant snake, its body nearly falling on yellow who jumped out of the way, "thanks! Wiping out these useless creatures is one of my favourite things!", she called back to yellow, her voice was much different here, to steven it didn't even feel like this blue and the blue he knew was the same person. He finally looked back up, he could see Pearl looking over to him, "My steven?" She asked, sounding concerned, "If it's too violent I can stop replaying it?", Steven shook his head, "it's not that it's just....mum, was she really like this?", pearl paused the projection and greg walked closer, putting his hand on Steven's shoulder, startling him, "blue was a much different person before me", he said, pearl snarled, "you just broke her even more", she said under her breath.
"Blue's different to everyone, sometimes she's cute sometimes she's a murderer, it's just how she is", pink said, looking up at the projection, paused just when blue is about to slice down another creature, it was the happiest pink had ever seen blue, her smile was giant, it looked like she was laughing as she murdered these animals. "But mum talks to animals! She should've understood them! She'd never kill one!", Steven cried, he then looked back up to the paused image, "is the mum I know all a lie?", he sounded broken, pearl and greg looked at eachother, both desperate to try and explain.
"Steven..." pink diamond was the only one to break the silence, she knew he hated her, but she also saw herself in him a bit, he reminded her of when she was a young nieve diamond. "She did this for the gems, to expand their empire of cruelty", she told him, "but blue hates gems", pearl quietly interrupted, everyone looked at her, confused, pearl started to become nervous as everyone stared at her, waiting for any kind of explanation. She gulped and looked back at everyone, "because of the colonisation of her own homeland, crecendolia, my diamond had a strong hatred for those who wiped out her people, those where the early gems sent by Lord paragon, the main gems responsible where the small aquamarine gems".
"I forget she's a crecendoll sometimes!", pink laughed, only to be hushed by greg and steven. "Blue was very young when her home planet became a colony. She had only been taken away by Lord paragon and became a diamond 3 years before. blue watched her planet and all the remains of her people be brutally slaughtered, mostly through a famine created by gems" pearl continued, the projection in her gem unpausing and starting to replay again, this time smaller and quieter, abruptly ending with blue becoming too frustrated with the creatures and creating a blast so giant yellow had to flee in her ship, the entire projection then went bright blue, when the light faded it showed the planet with the quarter of it missing, the projection then ended and the light disappeared.
"When my diamond started to properly lead, she was very strict to her gems, she would murder aquamarines over the slightest thing. White diamond loved this violent approach to rule breakers, she wanted homeworld to be strict and obey her. Soon, through White's order she had to be as cruel to all other gems but kinder to the aquamarines, this pained blue as the aquamarines where directly responsible for the extermination of the island she was born on and where also a favourite of white diamond and would regularly meet with blue."
Pearl started to smile as she remembered when she first met blue, "I, her loyal pearl was her favourite gem and the only none diamond gem she didn't see as a parasitic coloniser. Me and her quickly began to form a very strong bond", pearl missed those days so much, everyone could tell, it was the happiest greg and pink had even seen her, but her smile would soon go as she continued, "when we started to fuse with eachother white was enraged, she used her power to possess blue for thousands of years after that as punishment for fusing with me", Pearl's voice cracked as she said this, she wiped her eyes and took a pause, Steven stepped towards her, "pearl? Are you ok?", he asked, wanting to hug her only to be waved away.
