For the time that Gibbs was away in Mexico, Rose stayed with one of the team members at any given time. One month it was with Tony and that grew to be annoying. After that, she stayed with Ducky and Ducky's mom became an issue so Rose stayed with Abby for a while. Today, the day begins with Agent Fornell of the FBI waiting to meet Rose who was coming to see his daughter, Emily, the little girl whom she had grown attached to like a sister. Rose arrives and walks over to Tobias.
"Tobias." Rose states.
"Rose." Tobias replies.
"Rose!" Emily squeals and hugs her.
"Hi, Em." Rose says and hugs her back and soothes her hair down, "I'll be over in just a second." Emily goes back to coloring and Rose sits down next to Tobias.
"First makeover?" Rose teases.
"Don't start." Tobias replies and Rose giggles.
"She's cute." Rose replies.
"Thanks. She gets that from me." Tobias replies.
"Now, now, don't bash my wicked stepmother." Rose replies.
"She didn't want to be wicked to you, Rose." Tobias says.
"She and Dad were done and over before I got back." Rose responds.
"Yeah, I still can't believe you're his daughter." Tobias states.
"You couldn't tell by my attitude?" Rose asks.
"Oh, no, that I understood fully." Tobias replies and Rose laughs, "I thought it was from his training."
"Yeah, we're all a little... it's hard to explain." Rose replies.
"Thanks for coming though. Emily really likes you." Tobias states.
"She's a good kid." Rose whispers.
"She's not much younger than your sister..." Tobias whispers. A sad look crosses Rose's face.
"No, she's not." Rose replies.
"I don't mean to upset you." Tobias states.
"I'm alright, I just... It's still hard." Rose replies, "She'll forever be eight years old and I'm... still here. Dealing with our father."
"Who's a bastard?" Tobias jokes.
"You're best friend." Rose states and Tobias rolls his eyes.
"You're mad at him?" Tobias asks.
"What gave you that idea?" Rose asks.
"The Gibbs look." Tobias states.
"Yes. Did you hear he's selling our house?" Rose asks.
"Really?" Tobias asks.
"Yeah." Rose replies.
"Hey." A voice says.
"Hi." Emily's voice chimes.
"Try that one." The voice says and Rose turns to look with Tobias. A man stood beside Emily.
"Emily!" Tobias warns.
"Yes?" Emily asks.
"Come here." Tobias states.
"They haven't called our number yet." Emily states.
"I know." Tobias states.
"Relax, Agent Fornell. She's fine." The guy says. Tobias stands up and Rose looks at him. Her eyes narrow as she looks at the guy.
