The annual function was the highlight of our school year, a time when every student eagerly awaited the chance to showcase their talents and revel in the joy of performance. As the holidays approached, the air buzzed with excitement and anticipation. Despite being on holiday break, students were summoned to school for an hour or two every day to practice for the upcoming event. We had already started rehearsing for our roles in various plays, dances, and musical performances.
I found myself participating in a group dance performance, something I had never done before. It was nerve-wracking yet exhilarating, especially since I was dancing alongside my best friend Ishika, as well as Nidhi and Aarav.
As we practiced our dance routine, I couldn't help but notice a guy who seemed to stand out from the crowd. He was tall, with a confident posture that exuded charisma. His deep brown eyes were like pools of melted chocolate and his black hair was perfectly styled, framing his sharp jawline and adding to his overall allure.
Despite not knowing his name, I couldn't shake the feeling that he was watching me. Every time I glanced in his direction, our eyes would meet, and a small smile would tug at the corners of his lips. It was as if we shared an unspoken connection, one that transcended the chaos of the busy school hall.
"Hey, Shriya, what's with the staring?" Ishika nudged me, her eyes twinkling mischievously.
I shrugged, trying to play it cool. "Oh, nothing. Just checking out the crowd, you know."
Ishika raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying it. "Uh-huh, sure. Spill the beans, Shriya. Who's got your attention?"
I hesitated for a moment, debating whether to divulge my fleeting fascination. "Well, there's this guy," I finally admitted, "but I don't even know his name. He's been watching us practice from afar."
Ishika's grin widened as she leaned in conspiratorially. "Ooh, a mystery guy! How intriguing. Any plans to make a move?"
I scoffed, shaking my head. "No way, Ishika. I'm not interested in getting tangled up in crush drama right now. Besides, we've got our dance performance to nail."
Ishika chuckled, giving me a playful nudge. "Fair point, Shriya. Let's focus on slaying that performance."
I found myself stealing glances at him whenever I could, trying to decipher the mystery behind those captivating eyes. Who was he? And why did he seem so interested in me?
As the days passed and the annual function drew nearer, I couldn't shake the feeling that this mysterious guy would play a significant role in my life, whether I was ready for it or not.
