As we left the restaurant that evening, the taste of the delicious food lingered on my lips, but my mind was consumed by thoughts of Rohan. He looked especially handsome tonight, clad in a crisp white shirt that accentuated his lean physique, paired with dark jeans that hugged his legs just right. His dark hair was styled effortlessly, and his captivating smile could light up the darkest room.

Later, as I lay on my bed, the soft glow of moonlight casting shadows across my room, I was startled by the sound of my bedroom door creaking open. It was my brother, Jay. His usually carefree expression was replaced by a solemn one, and I could sense the weight of his unspoken words hanging in the air.

"Shriya," he began, his voice tinged with concern, "I noticed you seemed lost tonight. Is everything okay?"

I forced a smile, hoping to dismiss any concerns he might have. "Yeah, Jay, I'm fine," I replied, my voice a little too forced for comfort. "Just stressed about the debate tomorrow. You know how it is."

And as I closed my eyes, Rohan's face danced behind my eyelids, a bittersweet reminder of the tangled web of emotions that had taken root in my heart.
