Going back

The mood this morning has been somber, despite the fact that I had the best night's sleep in a while; and woke up in Peter's arms.

After getting washed up and dressed I grab my hand bag and make my way to the living room. Peter is standing there with his keys in hand. "Ready love?" I give him a tight lipped grin and nod once. He extends his free hand to me. I hold it all the way to the car.

"No driver today?" I ask looking up at him. He smiles and looks down at me.

"Disappointed?" He asks quirking an eyebrow. I shrug my shoulders trying to make it seem like it's not too big of a deal, but inside I'm pouting.

"I was just hoping to sit closer to you. But no biggie." I'm about to take my seat when he stops me and pulls me close. I crane my neck to look up at him and he presses his lips to mine. It's only a closed lipped kiss, but it's still just as sexy and sensual.  Feeling his full soft lips pressed to mine. He pulls away and bends down next to my ear.

"I'll keep that in mind for next time." I feel my cheeks burn. I haven't blushed since before I turned. Or I thought I turned. I guess Peter's right, I'm not dead. He ushers me into the car and buckles my seat belt for me. Once he's in and starts to drive his left hand remains on the steering wheel, while his right finds the inside of my thigh.  It stays there till we pull up in front of my building.

I look up at the beautiful building I use to get excited to see but feel nothing but dread at the moment. I know he's in there waiting for me, and things won't be the way they used to be.

"Hey, look at me." He takes my hand as I face him. He brings it to his lips kissing my knuckles. It makes me smile for the first time this morning. "There it is." He smiles, and brushes some loose hairs behind my ear. I lean into his touch. He cups my face pulling me towards him. I tilt my head and lick his bottom lip as I kiss him. He groans as he opens his mouth to deepen the kiss. His tongue massages mine slowly, taking his time. There is so much love and passion between us, it's painful pulling away from him but I know I have to. He groans and wears a pout when I open my eyes, making me giggle.

"That won't be the last time you kiss me, so don't look so sad." He leans his head back against the headrest and lets out a long sigh.

"I know. But I won't rush you. I know this whole thing isn't easy for you. I won't come or call. I'll wait for you."

"Promise?" I can't help but ask.

"Promise. I'm not giving up on you.  Ever.  Even if you called and told me you didn't want me. I'd still wait for you to change your mind. I told you that day in the park, eventually you'd be mine." I give him one last kiss before I open the door. He tries to stop me so he can walk me in but I told him it would be better if he didn't. It would only prolong the inevitable, and make it harder to walk away. And I needed to do this alone.

When I walk into my apartment it's no surprise that Rome is waiting for me. But what was surprising was that I couldn't feel or sense him before I opened the door.

I walk into my living room and he's standing by the windows looking outside. His hands in his pants pocket, stand straight as ever.

"I didn't think you'd come back." He doesn't move a muscle to face me.

"Why wouldn't I? I still live here, and my belongings are still here."

I stand with my arms crossed across my chest, and lean one leg.

He finally turns to face me. Stoic as ever giving nothing away. "Did you find out everything you needed to? You were gone for almost 24 hours."

Is he really getting angry with me right now? I chuckle to myself lowering and shaking my head. I make my way over to an overstuffed armchair. Crossing my legs when I sit. " I found out a lot of info, but not everything. I was told there's a whole other side of the story that I need to get from you. Peter refused to tell me things. Said it was your story to tell?" His brows pinch as he tilts his head. "Oh ok, we're gonna play this game. Gotcha." I stand quickly and start to pace back and forth in front of the fireplace. "So, let's start with an easy one, yeah?" I stop to look at him and he nods once. "How long did you know that I was Peter's Luna?"  His facade quickly breaks dropping his face to his chest.  He lets out a sigh.
