I left pretty quickly after practice ended yesterday so Oikawa wouldn't come talk to me again. I am beyond excited to be part of a team again, and I can't wait to get to know the boys. Though I don't really care to get to know Oikawa, and that attitude won't do either of us any good. Well, it would probably do him some good to get him off his high horse, but it would also probably get me kicked off the team, and that's not something I'm willing to risk. Being in a team environment is the only thing that will get me through this school year.

Actually, Pretty Boy Oikawa might be a bigger problem than I thought. I don't like him, and that can throw a wrench in a team's dynamic. I've had teammates I've disliked in the past, but I always did my best to be a good teammate both on and off the court, and those efforts always paid off. Right now, ignoring Oikawa is the best way for me to be nice to him. But that can't last forever, and I don't think I can count on him changing his Pretty Boy personality to be more likable. I sigh and stare at my sandwich. I'm going to have to make this work, but I don't know how.

I walk into English class, heading to my seat by the window and discreetly trying to judge Mrs. Yuuki's mood to see if she looks like she'll use me as a peer tutor again today.

"Lily."

I nearly jump out of my skin. I spin to see the spiky-haired third-year from the volleyball club standing right next to me. What was his name again? I-Iwa... Iwai...

"Iwaizumi-san!" I exclaim, remembering to add the honorific right before his name leaves my mouth. "Uh, did you need me for something? Or..." I trail off, unsure why he's here talking to me.

He shakes his head. "I'm in this class," he explains.

"Oh, you are? I knew I had seen you before!" I mentally smack myself for not recognizing that earlier.

"My desk is over here. You can sit next to me," he invites, heading over to a desk in the corner.

Relief and gratitude flood through me at his invitation. Iwaizumi-san is the epitome of a cool upperclassman. Good teammates look out for each other. And that is something I really need.

I claim the desk next to Iwaizumi, feeling better than I have in days. We don't speak during the lecture or when Mrs. Yuuki hands out the day's worksheet, but I'm not feeling awkward or alone, and I don't feel like there's much to be said. I finish the worksheet, bring it to Mrs. Yuuki's desk, and sit back down.

And immediately start to panic when Mrs. Yuuki starts making her way over to me.

"Lillian, I spoke with the other teachers who have English classes this period, and they agreed that their students will benefit from your tutoring. Would you like to go visit one of the other classrooms now?"

I sense Iwaizumi glance at me, but I'm too busy trying to stay calm to pay him any attention. "Y-yes, Mrs. Yuuki, if, if you'd like me to..." I stutter and shakily rise to my feet, utterly unprepared for the uncomfortable social interaction in front of me.

She smiles and says, "I noticed you were having trouble getting people to respond to you last time, so we'll have the teachers announce that you are there to help so students can raise their hands for you to come assist them."

Wait, what?

Having to go around initiating conversation as the American peer tutor is bad enough, but having my role called out to everyone in the class at once is much, much worse. Feeling everyone's eyes on me as the foreigner here to help them with English? I can't handle that. I'm sure the panic must be blatantly noticeable in my eyes, but somehow she doesn't see it.
