We walk into the restaurant, and it is not at all what I expected it to be. I thought the star setter of Miyagi's favorite eatery would be fancy, but there's almost nobody here, and it has this local, hole-in-the-wall, homey type of vibe.

I walk closer until I can see the menu properly. Oikawa stops next to me. Scanning the Kanji, I look for the familiar symbol for teriyaki. I love teriyaki. It is my favorite Japanese food. Well, maybe it's tied with mochi ice cream. I scan the list of available dishes: chicken, beef, pork, combos, and... something I can't read.

I tug on the elbow of Oikawa's jacket. Pointing at where I'm looking, I ask, "In the teriyaki section, under the pork and chicken combo, what does that say?"

His eyes follow my finger. He squints, then says, "That's lemon teriyaki salmon."

My jaw drops. "That sounds amazing. Have you tried it?"

He shakes his head. "I think it's new."

I look at the menu again and out of my peripherals see Oikawa look down at where my fingers are still holding his jacket. I tug it again. "What are you getting?"

Nodding his head toward the menu, he drawls, "The plate of onigiri and yakitori. It's what I get every time I come here. It's a meal fit for a winner." He flashes me one of his dazzling pretty boy smiles.

I laugh and drop my hand from his jacket, turning back to the menu. "I'm sure it is. So maybe you should hold off this time, since you just lost our bet."

"Do you know what you want?" Oikawa's voice doesn't sound as pompous as it was a second ago. Good. Maybe he's finally learning that he shouldn't act so cocky around me.

"Yeah, I'm going to try that lemon teriyaki salmon."

We order and stand by a side counter to wait for our food.

I take the opportunity to examine the little restaurant closer. It's growing on me. The vibe is welcoming, and overall, it just feels cozy.

My eyes coming full circle, I see Oikawa with his hands in his pockets, staring at the ceiling. I frown. He usually laughs it off whenever I suggest that he's not as cool as he thinks he is. Besides, it was only a silly bet.

"You know," I say, making him look down. "I was thinking about getting the onigiri and yakitori plate, too." The corner of his mouth twitches up a bit after a second— a sad attempt at a courtesy smile.

Hmm. Something changed. He's obviously not as peppy as he usually is. Is he tired? Or maybe I went too far when I told him he shouldn't get his 'winner's meal'?

"But then you said all that crap about how it's a winner's meal," I grin at him to let him know I'm teasing. "And I thought, 'Well, I don't think I've quite earned that then' and went with the teriyaki."

His eyes become curious, and he straightens. "Why not?" he asks. Then he adds, "You won the bet."

Yeah, we're definitely not talking about the bet anymore. I'll have to dig a little more to get what's on his mind out of him though. He'll open up if I push the right way.

I look away to the counter. "Lots of reasons." I'm quiet for a second, then turn back to him with a cheeky smile. "You'll still let me try some though, right? Is that allowed? I'll let you try some of mine, even if it isn't a winner's meal." I say, raising my eyebrows a couple times.
