"Lil-chan!"
I sigh. Oikawa's cutesy nickname for me is not the first thing I want to hear when I walk into the school courtyard in the morning.
"Good morning to you too, Cap—" I halt halfway through my greeting when I see both Oikawa and Iwaizumi. But seeing the two of them together isn't what stops me. It's the glasses Oikawa is sporting. I've never seen him wear them before, and they unbelievably amplify his good looks. "I didn't know you wore glasses."
"He doesn't." Iwaizumi answers for him.
"Oh. Good. I was about to feel super dumb for not noticing."
"It's just a defense mechanism he has," Iwaizumi finishes.
"Iwa-chan," Oikawa whines. "You promised!"
"Sorry, Loser-kawa, I forgot."
"You're so mean to me," Oikawa grumbles.
I laugh off my confusion, but choose not to tease him further. Iwa-san calling him names is usually a good place for me to abandon my part in his humiliation.
"It's okay, I like your glasses, Oikawa-san," I reach up to pat his head.
He huffs and turns away with a pout.
"Hey, Iwa-san, are we still going to work on your receives at my clinic today?" I change the subject.
The spiky-haired third-year nods. "Yeah."
"Cool. Watari has something he wants to work on too, so I think everyone can just come and practice anything they want. Will you be picking up your nephew, Oikawa-san?"
"Yeah," Iwaizumi cuts off Oikawa's response again. "Even if he really doesn't want to."
I frown. "I thought you liked picking up your nephew from volleyball. Cool uncle moves, and all that."
"I—" Oikawa starts.
"He does," Iwaizumi interrupts. "But he's still a little sore from last week. Betrayal cuts deep."
Betrayal? My heart seizes. Did they find out that I let Kageyama watch our practice match? Was that wrong?
"Like you would know, Iwa-chan," Oikawa retorts, finally getting in a full sentence.
"You're right. That will be your eternal curse."
"Ooookay... I don't know what you guys are talking about," I laugh uncomfortably to interrupt them. "But I'm going to class and I'll ask you about it later."
"Don't worry about it!" Oikawa practically yells to be heard over Iwaizumi telling me that Oikawa probably won't be able to bring himself to talk about it.
"So what was going on between you and our dear team captain this morning?" I ask Iwaizumi as he helps me set up the volleyball net. He and Watari are the only ones who have shown up for the clinic so far.
He laughs. "I was just making fun of him."
"Well, I could tell that much," I roll my eyes. "But for what? Something about his nephew?"
"Apparently he ran into Kageyama when he picked up his nephew last week."
"Really?" My mind flashes back to my own run-in with Kageyama during our practice match. That kid is everywhere. Or he's stalking Oikawa. "And that has to do with betrayal because...?" My breath hangs upon the question. They totally found out. They're probably going to kick me off the team for treason.
