Interested (Oikawa's POV)

I've decided.

I'm going to tell Lil-chan how I feel.

I'm going to tell her that I'm interested in her— that I have been for a while.

It's strange. We held hands at the training camp, but that was more of an accident than anything. I want more from our relationship, but does she? I don't know how things are between us, and that makes me confused. I've never had to make the first move. It makes me feel... insecure. A feeling completely unfit for the star setter of Miyagi.

Which is why I'm going to dazzle Lil-chan with an irresistible display of my feelings, and then she'll accept my invitation to go out with me— because who would refuse it— and then we'll start dating and I won't have to feel so unsure anymore.

At least, that's how it would go if I could actually get her to take two minutes to talk to me.

"Lil-chan!" I call out to her as soon as practice ends. "Can I talk to you?"

"Huh?" She looks up from stuffing her things into her bag. "Sure, Cap."

A small smile sneaks onto my face as she pushes the rest of her belongings inside her bag and forces the zipper shut before jogging over to me.

"What's up?"

I smirk and open my mouth to speak, but something catches her eye and she spins to face Mad Dog, who is walking toward the exit.

"Kyotani! Don't leave without me!"

Without even a glance, he growls, "Forget it. I'm not waiting around to watch you chat with Oikawa." He slams the door open and disappears.

Lil-chan shoots panicked glances from the door to me, to the door, and back to me. "Uhhh..." Taking small, antsy steps away from me, she bites her lip. "Sorry, Oikawa-san! Can you just text it to me? I promise I'll look at it!"

No. I can't just text it to you. "Fine, then," I sigh, waving her off. "Make sure you respond."

Then she bolts toward the door. "Kyotani! Wait for me!"

I watch her leave. She's been running everywhere with Mad Dog-chan these days. I feel like I hardly see her at all. What she's doing for Mad Dog-chan is obviously important and I would never discount how much effort she's putting in, but this is driving me crazy. I can't even get her to stick around long enough to ask her to be my girlfriend. And now I have to make something up to text her so that I don't look like the one who forgot.

"Wow," Iwa-chan appears over my shoulder. "You suck at this."

"What are you talking about? Whatever it is, I obviously don't!"

He laughs. "Sure, Lonely-kawa. That's why Lily won't give you the time of day."

"What's it to you?" I grumble.

"Well, that much should be obvious."

I spin on him. Does he mean... "You like her too?!"

Iwa-chan cracks up again, obviously having a riot at how easy it is to rile me up. "No, you idiot. Lily and I get along really well, but it's not like that."

"Then seriously," I grit my teeth. "What's it to you?"

"I'm not sure how I feel about it."

Iwa-chan is unsure? Unsure about what? "What do you mean?"

"I mean," he folds his hands behind his head and leans against the wall. "We struggled for so long trying to find a team manager who wasn't in love with you. We finally found one with Lily. I thought, with her, we wouldn't have any problems. But after all that trouble, you want to make her fall in love with you. Do you have no consideration for your team?"
