City league practice is in full swing by the time I get there.

The surprise on everyone's faces to see me is understandable, considering it's been a good week since I showed up.

Kyotani is the only one who doesn't look surprised. He greets me with his usual scowl. "Did you get bored with Oikawa?"

I try to punch him, but he dodges, so I just glare at him with all the fierceness I can muster. "I came here because I want to hit something. I was planning on hitting volleyballs, but if you're up for a fight, I'll go for that too."

He matches my glare with a sneer. "You don't want to fight me."

"You're right, I don't. Beating you is easy. It wouldn't be satisfying." I grab a ball to join their serving practice.

Kyotani points a finger at me. "You better watch the back of your head."

"Bring it on," I mutter. At this point, I wouldn't even be mad. Maybe a good knock in the head will shake free the answer to all my problems.

I toss my ball into the air, running and jumping after it. I swing my arm as hard as I can, not bothering to focus on my aim.

The ball slams into the wall on the opposite side of the court and ricochets back toward the net.

I land with a heavy breath. That felt good.

"Lily, are you okay?"

I turn to see Daisuke looking at me with a raised eyebrow.

I knew he would be here, so I shouldn't be startled by the familiarity of his voice and his smile, but I am.

"Oh," I cough. "Uh, yeah. I'm fine."

His eyebrow inches up even farther. "Are you sure? Because you almost blew a hole through our wall, and I'd rather not have to worry about paying for damages."

"Sorry," I mumble through a blush.

I can feel him silently appraising me, trying to divine what's wrong, or wondering if he should ask me to tell him. I expect him to do the latter, but he just says, "Do you want Kyotani and I to teach you how to spike? That might be a little less destructive."

The last part is teasing, but I jump on his offer. "Yes, please! Hear that, Kyotani? You're going to teach me your moves!"

"No, I'm not," he growls in response.

"Come on, Kyotani," Daisuke claps him on the back before grabbing hold of his shirt collar and dragging him along with us. "You owe it to Lily for all the hours she spent tossing balls to me for you to spike."

"Let go of me."

"You know, Kyotani," I jump in, "often by teaching another person how to do something, you get better at it yourself."

"I don't need to teach you to get better," he shoots back. But he grabs a ball all the same.

Daisuke follows suit. "Alright, Lily. The approach for a spike is similar to a serve. Kyotani, do you want to teach her?"

Mad Dog grunts. "You do it."

As Kyotani turns his back to me, Daisuke rolls his eyes, and I have to stifle a laugh.

"Okay," I jump up and down a few times. "Set for me, Daisuke-san!" I see a flicker of emotion in Daisuke's eyes, but he turns away before I can analyze it and walks to stand close to the net.
