For the second time this week, I slam my lunch down on Watari and Yahaba's table.

Watari jumps. "Lily-kun, what's wrong?"

Yahaba just looks at me with eyes that are completely unconcerned. "Feeling moody again, Lily?"

"Guys, I need your help," I glare at Yahaba. "Do you know where Mad Dog eats lunch?"

"Um," Watari puts his chopsticks to his mouth, thinking. "I don't. I wouldn't even know where to look."

"Yahaba?" I turn pleading eyes on him.

"Not a clue," he admits.

"Ugh!" I fall onto the bench and bang my head onto the table several times. "This is so frustrating!"

"It's okay Lily—" Watari starts to say.

"I'm going to find him," I stand up abruptly, effectively knocking Watari's hand away before he can pat my shoulder. "Oh, uh, sorry, Watari-kun."

He waves off my apology.

"And I'll bring him back here," I finish.

Yahaba stands suddenly.

"Yahaba-kun?" I question him.

The light-haired boy sighs, then smiles. "I'll come with you."

I bristle. "What, you don't think I can do it?"

"You're trying to find one person who doesn't want to be found, and he could be anywhere on campus. If he's even on campus. I think you're going to need all the help you can get."

"Good point, Yahaba-kun. Then we'll split up to cover more area," I hold out my fist to him.

He grabs my fist with his hand. "Also, I have full confidence in you as a manager, but I don't think Mad Dog will come eat lunch with us just because you ask him to."

I open my mouth to argue, but sigh. "You're probably right."

I've gone to practice with the city league for the past few days, and despite Daisuke's efforts to help us work together, Mad Dog still isn't happy with my presence there. I get it. I'm intruding. I know that. Mad Dog isn't interested in being friends with me or any of the Seijoh boys besides Iwaizumi. But we're teammates, so I'm not going to let him run away from us.

"However," I point my finger in Yahaba's face. "I want you to let me try to convince him before you butt in."

"Sure," Yahaba shrugs. "Let's go."

"Wait," Watari stands, packing his things into his bag. "I'm coming too."

"Yes! Team adventure with the second-years!" I push both my fists into the air. "On a quest to reclaim our rogue brother!"

"You are so weird, Lily," Yahaba mutters.

"My dad's an author; leave me alone," I say defensively.

Watari smiles. "I didn't know that your dad is an author, Lily-kun. That's cool. It explains why you're so good at English!"

"Thanks, Watari-kun. His career is actually why my family moved—"

"It explains why you say so many quirky things," Yahaba cuts in.

I shove him hard. "Why don't you look for Mad Dog instead of judging me?" I suggest.

Yahaba rebounds from the wall I pushed him into and dusts off his blazer. "Alright, alright, I'm on the lookout."

I pat Yahaba's shoulder to apologize for pushing him so hard, then ask quietly, "Do you think we'll be able to help Mad Dog trust us before the tournament?"
