i twirl my pen in my hand as i look down at the essay i'm supposed to be writing. so far, it's a line long, and that's just my name and the date so it's a great start if you ask me. i look over at oakley who's been staring at the same spot for the past 10 minutes, until i see him put his head on the desk. 'oakley, sit up.' greyson's voice booms as oak kisses his teeth quietly but does as he says, leaning back in his chair.

i look over at him and blow him a kiss which he laughs at quietly before i turn my attention back down to my essay. after 5 minutes, greyson starts wandering around, checking people's work. 'what is this?' he asks me as i shrug. i look behind him to see cruz and noah looking at me, cruz's brows furrowed while noah's stifling a laugh.

'i don't know what to write.'

'you used to be good at essays, nadya. you're being lazy.' he speaks sternly before walking off again, making me rub my hands down my face before i pick my pen up and actually start thinking.

after around 40 minutes, i look up at the clock, seeing that theres only 10 minutes left. i've written around a page of the essay so greyson best be impressed. i look over at oakley to see that he's already looking at me, his head on the desk resting on his arms but facing me. i smile a little, doing the same and looking at him as we mentally agree to have a staring contest. after he loses, i look back up at greyson for a moment before looking down at my sheet again.

after 10 minutes, greyson finally dismisses us as i get up, leaving the sheet on his desk. 'not you, nadya.' he booms and i feel oakley looking at me, his hand resting on my hip for a moment as he walks behind me before leaving the classroom.

'what did i do now?'

'do you remember what i last spoke to you about?' he asks me as i press my lips in a thin line and nod, looking outside to see oakley waiting for me on his phone. 'great, so why are you with someone who's a bad influence on you?'

'because it's my business who i involve myself with.'

'you're right, but think about what i've said. you're one of our brightest students, i don't want it to go to waste because of someone else.'

'yeah, and i don't care.' i shrug before leaving and walking past oakley.

'hey, hey, hey.' he repeats, his hands going on my hips to stop me from walking off. 'what happened?' he asks, his eyes searching mine as i shake my head.

'nothing, i'm fine. he just pissed me off.' i mutter, my hands shaking a little bit as i hear the door open and i turn away, walking off towards the exit to go to the dorms with oakley trailing close behind.

'can you stop? can we go somewhere?' he asks, taking my hand and pulling me back to him.

'oakley, we're in public.' i mumble, pushing him off me gently before i turn around and go to the girls' dorms.

'why are you so pissed off for?' he asks me as i shrug, walking into the lift after it arrives and he follows me. his hands are perched on my hips, and he's clearly not letting me go until i tell him the truth. 'whatever this is, it's not gonna work unless we talk to each other. understood?' he asks, his voice stern while he emphasises 'this'.

'he just reminded me that i shouldn't be with you and it pissed me off because he's getting involved in my business, like, what the fuck.' i explain as he wraps his arms around my waist, pulling me in for a hug.
