Aarav
Highway was jam-packed and so we had to take another longer route. "Aarav your phone keeps buzzing. Pick it up man" I extend my hand behind the seat while glaring him in the rear view mirror.
The name displayed on my screen set my mood to fire and I pinched my brows. I glare that pig-head again, knowing who was calling me he still passed me the phone. The ring died shortly and the three of them busied themselves in their conversation.
"What turn?" I turn to question Ms. Prim and proper sitting next to me and she faces ahead to inquire "Take the next right" when she's lost or not too caring about her surrounding she can be tolerable.
The phone vibrates again and I confirmed no one's eavesdropping before I slid the button "Why are you avoiding me?" with one hand I steered the wheel round to make a right turn.
"Didn't feel like talking" I heard a frustrated breath on the other side "You cannot just leave things like that!" I fought the urge to roll my eyeballs. "I can. You're benching whore will be there to wipe your tears. Goodbye" I end the call after that.
I stifled the urge to smash the phone when someone notices the change in my mood I glanced right to find her eyes on my phone. "Are we going right" I cleared the lump forming in my throat. "Yes" she said.
The rest of the car ride cleared with the twins arguing then dragging Mayra into it, the later confused whom to side with. I shake my head in amusement then gazed the street outside the window.
Sharan and the others were first to reach, one by one we filtered out of the car, on Adi's demand we came at a cafe that has a bar-- a more decent bar. Entering upon we found the cafe bar wasn't that decent though. It's good we didn't brought Daksh, the boy would be happy and engrossed in his video games anyway.
The place was packed but Sharan managed to book a booth for us beforehand. Aaksha, Moksha and Aditya sat together, Sharan slides in after Mayra's friend's boyfriend who's name I don't want to know. I sit with Mayra who's mumbling something to herself. Everyone placed their orders Sharan, Adi and Me ordered beer and the girls wanted something exotic.
Moksha went for chocolate cakes with god knows what toppings, Aaksha too went for something more complicated and then Ms. Prim and Proper asked for a cherry cake with berry wine.
I closed in near her ear and lowered my voice "Your main job is not being a student right. I always knew you were some different creature. Exorcism? is that your part-time. This time I really got right" she inhales a deep air before meeting my gaze.
"Why are you so intrigued about my jobs. Are you perhaps possessed?" she eyes me with confidence even though I know deep down she'll shrink swiftly in seconds if I break her boundaries and reach in.
"I can't be possessed" I said and she smiles but it doesn't reaches her eyes "Right. The devil" I pluck a berry out of her cake that's just served on her plate and chucked in.
Unfortunately I found Adi grinning at us with a knowing look, and at that moment I wished my fist and his face could have a meet up. "Well, you guys haven't introduced yourselves" the spike head (Diya's boyfriend) tries to keep a conversation and I stretched back to get a full view of him.
"Aditya Parihaar" Adi raises one finger while chugging an entire mug of his beer "Sharan Parihaar" Sharan doesn't lifts his eyes from the phone. And then the spike head peeks at me sliding the goggle till it reaches the tip of his nose "Aarav Parihaar" at last he huffs a laugh.
"What's with addressing yourself with the surnames.. just say your names or are you guys showing off" my brows rose on their own and I tilted my head the slightest
"We are Parihaar's. We are born to Show off".
He stills at my tone and from the corner of my eyes I find Sharan smirking and Adi winking at spike head's girlfriend.
We drank till the night came, Adi and the spike head competes on who can tolerate more drinks. Obviously Adi won.. he has had a great tolerance.
He began his drinking issues when his dad, Uncle Raj died from a car accident. It was equally tormenting for Moksha but Adi had been there when his father crashed and instead of himself saved his poor son.
I could've forgotten everything but not the night when my cousin broke and cried on the floor. And now he's a big boy and knows very well to handle any emotions.
Everybody was busy in the unending competition between those two that I sat back trying to drink my seventh mug in peace. A small tug on my shoulder made me turn around.
Mayra stood behind me with a nonchalant face. "Can you stop them?" I raised my brows for the reason and she eyes me like I'm kidding.
Mayra moves to grab my phone but instead held my wrist and shoves it almost at my face "It's past eleven". I knew what she meant but I played dumb.
"I'm sure by now Suvy maa is habitual of your late comings but I have no plans of getting scolded because of some stupid fight" she completes with a deep exhale. Her cheeks are blooming red and her doey brown eyes are struggling to stay on my face and glare. So, this little head really has no tolerance. Good for me.
"It's okay you won't get scolded. Sit down" I grab her arm and yank her beside me. The dizziness lefts her with no option but to obey me "What do you want" she tries to shoo my hand away but I only tighten my grip "Don't pretend it's the first time I've touched you" my gaze hardened and she paused, the tip of her ears turned crimson and her eyes slowly meets mine. "Can you please not mention that"
Any other time I would've pushed more but this time her eyes stops me to form any hurting remarks. I pass my mug of beer to her and she hesitates "No--thanks" I roll my eyes and chugged in all myself "Enjoy while you can" from the corner of my eyes I saw her fidgeting.
"I wanted to say something for awhile now" she jerks to look at me and I control the urge to smile. I turn to face her but my eyes caught her ears.
She notices my gaze and tries to cover them with her hands "You're just like a bunny" her face forms a frown and then she pouts. "What is it that you had to say" I stare at those brown rings of her eyes. Then said
"..Nothing".
