Mayra
The music blasted my ears just as we entered the ceremony hall, the neon lights trailing the crowd and the people enjoying on the floor. Is this really an inauguration ceremony?
I would've thought I was lost had it not been a hand darting out for me and grabbing my hand as Aarav led cleaving the crowd for me. I ignored all the eyes that were eagerly watching me. Do I look like an alien to them?
Finally the horde of people ended and we stumbled upon many tables occupied with various businessmen "Stay close to me" Aarav whispered to me angling his head towards a person we were heading towards.
"As if I have other option" I said, just for his reaction. I love it when he reacts to that jealousy and goes all dominant. Maybe I always did.. I just have the enough courage to face it now.
He chuckles pulling me even close to him as we neared a bearded man who appeared to be in his mid forties "Congratulations Mr. Khanna. My dad sends his regards to you" I was surprised by the amount of formality he had in his tone.
Surely a son of a regal man. Aarav would make a great businessman one day I'm sure of it.
"Oh son it's so good to see you" the old man pulls Aarav in a warm hug for a long moment before straightening back, his eyes finally falls on me and I tried my best not to stiff. It soothed right after when Aarav silently rubbed his thumb on the back of my hand.
"Hello Sweetheart? Who are you?" the old man's attention sagged on me completely and of the two other men standing behind him. "I am Mayra Dhanrajgir" he dips his head in recognition.
"Come son! this way. We shall discuss some business while we're at it" the old man speaks slinging his arms over Aarav as he leads him away dripping some of the wine on the carpet in the process.
"Vansh. Take good care of the girl" he says to a boy that just arrived at the scene. I was going to call for Aarav before I saw him mouthing 'Don't go anywhere I'll be back soon' so I did.
"Don't worry I can keep you company till then" the boy, Vansh muttered to me with a smile plastering his face. I took a seat closest to me and he followed after me acquiring another seat beside me.
"Was that your dad?" I questioned him just to kill the time before Aarav joins me again. God's know where did that old man took him.
"Yes. Yashraj Khanna, the Indie textiles Industry owner" well, that would be hard to remember.. such a big name. "So this inauguration..?" I didn't what to ask so I trailed cut off by the music booming around me.
"It's for my new company. He's marketing his son" he motions his hands around gesturing to this party. I didn't know what to say after so I stayed quite.
I called a waiter passing by and plucked a glass of water out. "A dance? If you don't mind" he extends a hand in front of me and I stop drinking the water mid way.
