Aarav
3 months later
The engines were already on the fire by the time I completed my third lap. I could hear the loud cheering of the audience lining the street.
The microphone buzzes before a voice explodes "Don't press your balls too hard Aarav. I'll give you consolation" the fvcker instead of minding the roads bluffs.
He exceeds me by mere inches and passes on so fast I didn't register his car.
"Well can't say the same considering you don't have balls at all" I click shut the microphone before dragging my car towards the final turn.
He finds himself losing the sight just as I overtook him. I snake my hand out of the window and do a quick shake of goodbye then sped up.
In a matter of seconds I was crossing the finish line. And just for an exciting end I do a smooth drift of three sixty. The cheer from the girls lining around grew louder.
I left the car when Adi comes running towards me "Bruhh! you did it again" and throws himself on me. Following him Reyan stands leaning on the car frame. "You'll be on this years panel too. Didn't expected though" he eyes me sarcastically.
I sigh removing the gloves handling it to them. I walk near the fvcker who was bluffing some minutes ago "Kya hua Aman? tu to jeetne wala tha? consolation bhi dene wala tha" (What happened Aman? you were going to win? you wanted to gimme consolation too) his girlfriend snorts but instantly shuts down when he glares.
"You just got first position don't get so high up" I clicked my tongue and replied "Next time put your girlfriend on the driver's seat and I might let you win".
Aditya and Reyan laughs behind me and I back away from there to leave. "Aarav, badi maa ne call kra tha" (Aarav Suvy maa called) I exited the racing arena reaching the parking lot "Let's go home early today" Adi nods while Reyan throws me the car key.
"Goodbye assholes" Adi presents both his middle fingers to him "Bye Son" and before Reyan could hit him he enters the car and locks himself.
Looking at them makes me realize one doesn't need many friends if you have one true friend. Reyan is that one true friend to us.
He winks at me while setting his curly locks behind and puts on the helmet. I waved him before he rode off down the road.
We reached home by nine and I parked my car beside dad's SUV. "Maa ko kon bataega?" (Who's gonna tell maa?) I question him and he glares me back in response "Don't look at me".
We entered the house together only to find the entire family having a get together in the dinning hall. Except for Manav of course and Arhaan bhai and Anika bhabhi who're off to New York.
I scan around the room taking in each and everyone. Dadi and dadu were seated on the head of the table chatting with Moksha and Aaksha. Papa and Mayank chachu were discussing something while Sharan was on his phone scrolling.
Shorbari maa was giving a quick review to maa about her shopping today.
Iti bhabhi and Choti maa were serving the dinner when they all noticed us. Sharan peeks us from his phone but again goes back to scrolling.
"Where were you guys?" I was about to answer when Adi began whining about hunger and don't-feed-me-with-questions look.
"Arey mera baby, go wash yourself both of you mai khana laga rhi" (Oh my baby go wash yourself guys I'll set your plates) shorbari maa gets up immediately heading for the kitchen.
Maa gestures me to be quick and I nod to her in response. I hastily walk towards my room and run myself a shower. After ten minutes I was on the table.
Iti bhabhi rounds the table to serve something on my plate "Aap nhi khaengi?" (Won't you eat?) she smiles softly then shakes her head "Tumhare bhaiya nhi aaye abhi" (Your brother's not home yet) I sighed "He probably eats something in the office. Don't starve yourself over him" I munch my first bite while she pats my shoulder.
"You won't understand Aarav" I raised my brows but Adi answers for me "I don't think I'll get this much of a dedicated wife" and I flick him on the forehead "It'll be a big thing itself if you get one" bhabhi interjects us in between the banter.
"Okay okay. Eat in silence" he rolls his eyes from me whereas she takes a chair beside us. I noticed something different on her. As if she's been excited over something "bhabhi aaj aap kuch zyada khush lag rhe ho? Manav bhai ne kuch kia kya?" (Bhabhi you look happier today. Did Manav do something to you?) I wriggle my brows but she cutely smacks my arm "Aarav!".
"Mai khush hu par doosri baat se" (I'm happy for different reason) I gulp down some water "Tabhi mai sochu jiska husband Manav bhai ho wo itna khush kaise" (Now I get it, how can you stay happy when your husband is Manav) I was expecting her scolds instead I earned a hard smack on my head.
I looked back only to find Manav glaring me silently "Hello to you too brother" he rolls his eyeballs on me and I find a snickering Adi beside me "You were hitting on his wife. You deserved it" I smacked him in return.
"Tum log shaanti se khana nhi kha skte" (Can you guys eat in silence) Maa acquires the seat Iti bhabhi left. "Did Iti told you something?" I was done eating and stretched myself.
"No. Her husband interrupted" she glares me and I quickly mumbled a sorry. "Mayra's coming here tomorrow" my back straightened almost immediately. "But why?" I looked not interested when I catch Adi giving me a look. I averted my gaze from him tapping my finger on the table.
"For her college ofcourse. She's enrolled in your college" the tapping stops and I lifted my gaze to meet hers. "I'll be thankful if you guys behave good around her. She's going to stay at our house for a month or so" my brows lowered in annoyance.
"Colleges do provide dormitories" she tilts her head "Mayra is a child Aarav she hasn't lived in Mumbai before. And Iti's mother trusts me to send her here all alone. Don't embarrass me" I exhaled sharply "She's eighteen or something not a child certainly" before I could back away she twists my ear.
"I don't want your complains. It's my house and this is my decision. If you have problem you need to adjust." as she releases my ear I thumped the table standing up "Fine. I'll try to be out of the house to avoid causing trouble to your precious Mayra" she squints and Adi giggles.
"And what about college?" the smug boy comments from behind maa "You will inform me Adi of how he behaves with her in college" I chewed on my cheek to settle the urge to flatten him on the floor. "Aye Aye captain" he mimics a salute with his two finger and leaves the table.
I was too walking away towards my room "Aarav" I twisted behind to look her in the eye "You'll go pick her from the airport. With Adi" I rubbed my forehead and sighed. "Maa!" she stops me by waving her hand at me "No more complains".
She won't listen. Nevermind.
I'm not the type to be meddled with.. if she comes in my vicinity I'll ruin her just like I did six months ago in Manav's wedding. Ms. Prim and Proper remembers that and tries her best to forget it. But I'll do the deed of reminding her all over again if suited.
