When it gets to the verge where you don't feel connections with anyone, the feeling of giving everything up eats you.

Mayra
I intently woke up early today and woke up Diya too. It's just one day and I'm going to have it to the fullest.
After I showered I shoved her into the washroom as she half asleep crawls back but with my single glare she gets up cursing then walks again into the washroom.
I utilize my time cleaning the room and then fished out my phone to text mumma. After about half an hour she finally emerges out wrapped in a single towel.
"What are we doing?" she blows her hair dry as I walk towards my closet and provide her some of my clothes.
"Maybe I'll help Iti. There must be lot of work today" she nods slipping into the t shirt and a black short.
We left the room and scaled the hallway when a tender voice called for me and I turned around to greet Ramika dadi "Morning dadi" she motions for me to sit beside her and as I do with Diya on my tail she pats my hair in a gentle way.
"Always a morning bird huh" I pressed a smile and scoot closer to where Suvy maa seated chopping dry fruits for dadi.
I helped maa in chopping fruits while dadi busied herself with Diya. After a moment Iti emerges out of the kitchen with some flour caked on the front of her apron.
"Oh Mayra. I need your help" I nodded getting up and followed her out in a direction I've hardly went all this time. "Actually I'm doing the kitchen work. Moksha is not up yet and Aaksha has exams so.." she trails off as I cling to her shoulder "Just tell me what to do" relieved, she smiles to me.
"Mandir sajana hai" (Help me decorate the temple) she leads me towards a hallway that opens into a chamber so ethereal that I wait for a second to take in the beauty.
The temple adorned with yellow marigolds and the marble shining gives its beauty the edge. "I'd love to" she smiles ruffling my hairs "Thank you".
I grab my kurti and scooted down in front of the altar. The incense burning fills the air with its mesmerizing scent as I made to grab the golden statue of kanha ji and unwrapped his clothes with one hand settling him in a round copper palate.
Tying the ends of my dupatta on one side I fished the milk out and was about to clean him when a small chuckle brings me out my trance. I know that laugh...
I turned in the direction of the door where Aarav leaned on its door frame, hairs all wet and dripping and the most eye catching thing was that he clad himself in a white kurta with folded sleeves.
I made to resume not paying him much of my attention as I poured the milk over the figurine with one hand gently stroking him. I was halfway through it when a pair of hand darts from either side of me and encases my hands in his huge ones.
"Mujhe bhi krna hai" (I want to do it too) I resisted looking sideways as his head peeks down from my shoulder. A smile pulls up on my lips at the childish way he declared.
"Push my bangles back they are making noise" I lowered my brows at them clinking and distracting "Bangles are for that purpose miss" he points but gratefully obeys, his wet milky hands strokes my wrist and then he lazily drags those fingers up finally pushing them back.
"You have such delicate hands" he mumbles near my ear and I resisted blooming red.
As we were done showering the statue with milk I pass him a towel and he cleans the statue with such gentleness.
I get lost staring at him as he wholly invested himself in cleaning and dressing kanha ji. "You're staring at me Mayra" I avert my gaze immediately "That's a bad habit" he points and I squint at him "Ohh you do that all the time" I fought an eye roll grabbing a towel for myself.
He ignores me and we go back to that awkward silence again.
After the dress up I settled the figurine back into its place joining my hands at last. I prayed and then I was about to turn away from him but something clicked in my head.
"Happy birthday Aarav" I said, not meeting his gaze as I untied my dupatta and straightened it. One moment he was sitting the other he was on my face. Seriously what's with him and talking so close up.
"Bas wish krogi?" (Just wish?) he stared not blinking for a second. Nothing on his face revealed mischief or playfulness.
"To aur kya chahiye tumhe" (What else do you want?) the corner of his mouth lifts into a smirk. He leans closer and closer until I pushed at his chest panicking as I glanced towards the door "Aarav hum mandir me hai!" (Aarav we're in a temple!) his smirk grows into a grin.
"Mtlab bahar mera chance hai" (Means I have chance outside) I pointedly glare at him as he chuckles pulling a strand of my hair and a petal comes out. He blows it on my face and then steps back leaving.
I released out a long caged breath. What are you up to Aarav. I can't keep telling myself that you mean nothing to me and all the acts you do wouldn't affect me. It keeps getting harder. And I've never in my entire life wanted a person only for me.. is it really that I want him?
The rest of the day me and Diya together with Moksha helped Iti with whatever we could. The evening settled and I was rummaging through my closet.
"What do I wear Diya?" I chewed on the inside of my cheeks as I turn to face her finding her engrossed on her screen. I threw a piece of cloth at her and she pulls away from the phone "Yeah I'm listening" I raised a brow in confirmation.
"Okay okay. Wear a saree.. you look absolute dazzling Aarav won't be able to resist you" she chuckles earning another cloth smacked at her face.
Someone knocked the door and I shushed her before receiving the person. "You're not ready?" I opened the door wide for Suvy maa as she extends her gaze to Diya stretching on the bed. As soon as she finds maa she instantly jumps up.
"It's great you're spending the weekend with your friend" she smiles handling me a jewel box and I hesitate but she pointedly shoves it in my hands. "Not again Mayra" I huff out a sigh mumbling a thanks to her "Pasand aye to thanks bolna" (If you like it then only) and I suppress a smile.
I opened the lid of the box and beautiful rose gold designed with trinkets of diamonds twinkled on the sight. It was the other one I saw yesterday. "I like it" I look up to her as she pats my shoulder "Don't thank me thank Aarav. Turns out my boy does have a good taste" she stares at me longer than a second and I fought a blush creeping up.
With that she left and I avoided meeting Diya's gaze who was gasping so loud "Wait wait wait" she squeals "I knew it!" I rolled my orbs.
"Diya please" I flopped on the bed's edge as she scoots closer to me "What happened?" her voice lowers a decibel and I debated telling her my true thoughts that even I fear to speak aloud.
"I.. I just want this to stop. If I somehow built up feelings for him.." I trailed off "Which you already did" she completes for me and I flinched.
"I know you more than you Mayra" her look made me want to avert and even take those words back. Because I'm scared. I'm scared of what if she's right.
"You're unsure?" she picks it up from my face and I closed my eyes nodding. And when I finally opened them spotting her grinning ear to ear I knew it right that moment something wrong is concocting in that brain of hers.
"What are you thinking?" that grin morphs into a smirk and then her next word fills me with fear "Please don't scream Mayra" and that was all the warning she gave me as she bends closer holding me tight in her arms and presses her lips onto my collar bones.
I realized a second later what she's doing and when I attempted to push her away she finally did. She wiped a thumb on her lower lips chuckling deeply. I rushed towards the mirror and slammed a hand onto my mouth at the sight of a reddish mark tattooed just below the collar bone.
