Aarav
Sharan was the one to interject and put a stop to that drinking competition. We left the cafe past twelve and most of the girls were tripping.
Me and that friend of Mayra were the only visible sober people who could drive, so I rounded the car and let the girls get in first. Even though Aaksha hadn't touched a drink I can't trust her to drive.
Protesting that she can drive Aaksha went back in Sharan's car. Dismissing the drama happening in the background between Sharan and Aaksha I made to sit in the driving seat but found the seat already occupied.
"Muku! get out" she sluggishly waves off her hand "Go relax in the back bhai. I can drive" I looked past her at Adi who's sprawled in the passenger's seat "Tumhara dimag to thik hai. Muku waise bhot achi drive krti hai jo tumne drunk halat me usse gadi dedi" (Have you lost your sense? She's already a bad driver. Drunk muku will kill us) he looked as if he had tried his best while Moksha shot daggers through her eyes.
"Sorry brother. If we stay alive I'm going to kick some sense into her.. for now she won't budge, I'll take care of the steer don't worry" I sighed knowing damn well what is his definition of taking care.
I unlatch the back door and slide in finding a half asleep Mayra struggling to stay awake. "Lesssgo!" Moksha kicks in the gear and accelerates the car. "Muku we are born together that doesn't mean you'll take me to the grave with you too. Slow fvcking down!" Adi's scream pierces the earlier silence. First five minutes drive was a race to hell.
For a moment my heart felt it skipped multiple beats when a car almost passed from the side leaving a trail of scratches in its wake. "Enough, muku let me drive" I spoke in between their bickering and both of them turn behind to look at me "Bhai, tell him to let me handle. He's distracting me!".
I would've answered with both their heads slammed into each other if the truck coming from the front hadn't caught my eyes. "Adi! steer!" he turns just in time to rotate the wheel and the car makes a vigorous turn and slams right into a tree.
With one hand I catch Mayra and use the other to protect our heads. Adi did the same with Moksha.
If there was some dizziness the hard slam had knocked every sense to work. I undid our belts and got out of the car, Adi sank on one of his knees to detect the damage "Bhencho--" he turns to face me "Usable?" I ask and he answers with a shake of his head, he snakes both his arms in his hairs.
"Who let her drive!" Mayra rounds the car to get to us "Mayra. Babe can you do us a little favor and not tell this to your parents" Adi approached her in less then two strides. "Of course not, mumma will kill me" he snaps a finger at her "Us".
"There's not a petrol leakage we can still drive!" the green head calls from inside the car. We both roll our eyes before Adi makes his way to our drunkard sister "Dumb head you smashed the engine to a pulp. now get out" it takes him some healthy minutes to properly get her out of the car.
My gaze raked Mayra for any possible injuries but she was fine and a bit spaced out. "Aarav! call Sharan" he shouts while trying to balance Moksha's weight on him. I dialed and after the third ring he received.
"Muku crashed the car" there was a deep sigh from the other side.
"Is everyone okay?" I hummed.
"Bring a car here, I'll share the location".Just as I hung the call and shared the location, Mayra stood beside me looking around with unusual awareness "Don't tell me you're scared of ghosts?" she cringes at my comment. "I'm not" I slid the phone in the pocket "That's good because we have to wait here for awhile under a peepal tree in the middle of nowhere" I leaned on the car frame.
"What's with you and ghosts today" I noticed the change and a tang of fear in her voice. "Because I'm not scared" I shrug and she too leans on the car beside me.
In a minute a horn blares in the distance then a car comes in view, they maneuver the car next to ours and Sharan gets out from the back seat. "We asked you to bring another car!" he glares at me as if that's enough of an answer and then Adi.
"If I had called home and asked for another car at this hour, your dad will get suspicious" point. If dad knew about our night schedules, we'd very soon be having curfew of our own.
"How will all of us fit in?" the scaredy cat beside me questions "On one other's lap" Sharan simply shrugs in nonchalance.
There are six of us and then that friend and her spike head boyfriend. I stand there as Sharan and Adi helps Moksha in the car. Mayra walks past me to check in on her.
When I kill the distance and stand next to Sharan "Is there really no space left?" he looks at me as if I created the problem I shouldn't be objecting at all.
Sharan rounds the car and settles in the back seat with Aaksha on his lap, Adi sits next to him with Moksha on his lap. All of them stared at me and I stared back at Mayra who was lost somewhere in her thoughts.
"If you're not okay back there, come in front Mayra!" the spike head shouts from the passenger seat, the drunken ass can't even keep himself from showing off his eagerness.
Mayra was contemplating but it was clear she didn't wanted to share a seat with drunken ass, knowing her she won't be able to neither deny nor accept to sit with me "The ride is short, you can manage I guess".
I get in first but she doesn't moves an inch "It's already midnight... we don't have all night" I catch her wrist but she willingly moves and gets in the car settling on my lap.
The car roars before it moved and I released a long breath, suddenly the car jerks wildly and I grip her waist but instantly remove my hand. Mayra tries to wriggle on my lap trying to adjust herself on my lap. Well that sounds dirty.
I snake my hand and keep an aggressive hold on her waist, she half turns to face me with an annoyed face. After vague attempts to loosen my grip she hisses at my face. "Let go of me" she whisper yells.
I sucked in a long breath, her closeness makes it hard to form words.
"Only if you stop grinding on me" the darkness of the night concealed her reaction but the slight gape of her mouth was enough for me to know I managed to rile her up.
"I'm not grinding!" she throws back. "It feels though".
Any smugness washed away as soon as her elbow knocked into my belly. My grip loses on her and she shifts away from me.
"I hope the ride is not too comforting for you" with that she smirks and turns around.
