It was eight in the morning and I woke up to an empty bed and rustled sheets that gave off his scent. I wanted to believe it was all just a dream and nothing more.. but he was here. All night by my side.
I get up from the bed after folding the blankets as my gaze sagged over the wardrobe and on the anklet that rested there.
I was jolted out of my trance when my phone rang into life. I read the name Diya.
"Hey?" I said absentmindedly and her reply was rash and immediate "Heyy? you're seriously giving me a heyy after the bomb just busted on the Instagram!" I pushed the phone at a distance to prevent my ear drums from damaging.
"And I'm just getting the news on the day of the engagement????" she sounded furious, and extreme furious. So I headed inside the washroom putting the phone on speaker as I went with my daily routine.
"Everything's complicated Diya" she huffs an annoying breath "Don't tell me you did nothing" she hissed on the phone and I could not answer to it. Because she was right. at first I intended to run away from all this. Not even once considered confronting Aarav about my feelings.
"It was me who asked him to leave Diya" I was lost in the moments of last night, how he traced every inch of me.. how he kissed my most sensitive spot and then claimed my lips telling me he loves me.
"ARE YOU STUPID OR WHAT???" I blink away the cloud of haze mounting my head and went towards the phone placed on the cabinet "I was. Now I have to right those things I wronged" I asserted in low tone. A knock occurred on my door and I mumbled a quick sorry before hanging up.
I dressed up as fast as I could and made my way out. A maid was waiting in my bedroom "Suveksha mam is looking for you" I nodded in response and after grabbing the phone I left my room.
The corridors and hallways were decorated with flowers, lighting and everything that could be peach in color. Because it was the theme of the engagement.
I found everyone gathered in the hall except for one person I always look for, my eyes clash with Adi's and he winks at me while patting the space beside him. With light steps I follow towards him and settled next to him.
I was trying to focus on what other's were discussing and not look for Aarav every damn second. I don't react when Adi pushes my hairs away and speaks to me in a very leveled tone "Missing someone?" I was never so self aware in Adi's presence but now I am.. am I so obvious?
"Huh?" I was completely lost on words and my mind lagged for a few seconds "Noo" I stretched the word a little too long earning a mischievous smile from him.
"Don't worry I won't tell him" he smirks stretching his hand behind me and I contained my laughter. Last night Aarav told me how Adi and Sharan both rescued him from all this mess and knocked some sense into him. If not for them I'd forever be in the guilt of not talking to Aarav.
