Shutting his eyes tightly, Heidith stuck his two fingers down his throat, trying to make himself vomit as he knelt on the floor. Despite his countless efforts, the pill still didn't come out. Only his saliva and blood dampened the cold floor as he rubbed his stinging throat with a painful expression on his face. He almost felt like he couldn't breathe. Sweat kept pouring down his body, soaking his clothes.

"What are you doing? Are you going to die?" He heard a familiar voice yell as loud footsteps echoed against the floor.

It was Derek.

"Why are you here?" Heidith asked in a raspy voice, getting a bit irritated by his actions.

Derek pinched his temples tiredly. "I don't know what to do." He sighed. "That girl is in trouble. The antidote doesn't work."

"What?" Heidith instantly rose from his kneeling position. "What do you mean?"

"I mean what I say." Derek sighed again. "I guess someone fooled you."

"No way," Heidith denied it firmly. "I can't believe it. I think something's wrong."

"Yeah. That's why I want you to come with me." Derek searched the surroundings sharply, feeling suspicious. "But what were you doing just now?" His eyes widened when he saw the faint red marks. "Is that... blood? Are you trying to commit suicide?"

Heidith laughed angrily. "You think I'm stupid? I was trying to throw up. But it seems like it's useless."

"Oh." Derek blinked his eyes, registering his words. "You want me to help you?"

"How are you going to do that... may I ask?" Heidith gave him the side eye.

"Do you have another way left?" Derek questioned, making Heidith silent as he finally agreed.

Derek stood behind him and hugged Heidith's stomach. "This is gonna be a little painful," he warned before putting pressure on Heidith's stomach without hesitation.

"Uff. What are..." Heidith felt his face turn green. Not long after, he successfully vomited the red pill, thanks to Derek's method.

"What is that thing?" Derek squinted his eyes at the pill, checking it out, frowning. "What's going on?"

Heidith stepped on the pill and destroyed it completely before tapping Derek's shoulder to express his gratitude. "I'll explain everything later. Let's go now."

"Yeah. Okay." Although he wasn't fully satisfied with Heidith's answer, Derek still followed him out.

Heidith swiftly ran towards the ward. When he arrived at Zadhea's bed, his steps became much slower. Trying not to make any sounds, he dragged himself to her right side and took her wrist before checking her pulse. To his relief, it was okay.

"Why is it not working?" Heidith finally found his voice as he glanced at the physician, trying hard to keep his calm demeanor although his heart throbbed against his chest rapidly like it wanted to break the chest walls at any time.

"I don't know. I'm confused too," the woman gave him an honest answer.

Heidith furrowed his brows, pondering.

Since Dewinn was a magician, he assumed that it had something to do with magic.

Rubbing his ruby ring, Heidith kept holding Zadhea's wrist.

The ruby began shining brightly, and a black circle appeared above Zadhea's body.

Heidith clicked his tongue when the realization dawned upon him.

"It's like a lock," he began explaining. "It prevents Zadhea from absorbing the antidote."

"Wow." Derek was surprised. "What a cunning plan."
