"Orly!" The moment Sullivan saw his younger brother, he reflexively stood up from the ground.
Orlivan looked at the small house where Sullivan was staying. His face darkened immediately upon seeing how low his living conditions were.
Sullivan was the crown prince and the future king of their kingdom. How could such a person live in a place like this? That too, sharing it with two other people. Orlivan's heart sank at the thought. He clenched his hands and looked away, taking deep breaths to control himself from venting his emotions.
"How are... father and mother?" Seeing his brother not talking, Sullivan asked in a low, hesitant voice.
Orlivan closed his eyes and inhaled a long breath. "They are... good."
Sullivan tried to force a smile. "That's good."
Orlivan couldn't help but glare at him. "Why do you even ask about them? If you want to cut ties with us, do it properly."
Sullivan felt hurt by his accusation. He didn't want to cut ties with them. It was the other way around. "Orly..." he murmured. "I have no choice. I'm helpless. Mother doesn't want Ellie as her daughter-in-law. Her hatred for humans is so strong. She would never allow us to be together so..." He took a deep breath. "I'm happy with my current life."
Orlivan narrowed his eyes.
Sullivan was speaking the truth. Two months after his disappearance, Sullivan came to their kingdom together with a girl named Eliana. At first, their family was overjoyed—they thought they would never see him again. However, when they realized that the girl he brought to their kingdom was a human and he wanted to marry her, they lost it. They told him not to set foot there unless he broke all ties with Eliana.
Being stubborn as he always was, Sullivan left his kingdom and his world too. Eliana tried to stop him, but he didn't listen to her. He told her he didn't want to lose her. Hearing that, she reluctantly let him break all connections with his family. She felt guilty but had no choice because she loved him so much, and she too didn't want to lose him.
"But..." Orlivan bit his bottom lip. He knew how stubborn Sullivan could be. But three months had already passed since his departure. Maybe now he wasn't that into her. After all, there were better-looking girls in their world. Eliana was indeed beautiful, but that was it. She didn't look like a stunning deity, so...
"Why don't you just forget her? She's not even that gorgeous. There are better-looking girls in our kingdom than her. She's not the one and only kind and sweet girl in this whole universe. Just because she saved you once doesn't mean you have to devote your entire life to her. Plus, she's a human, so she wouldn't even live that long..."
"Shut up!" Sullivan roared. "Shut up and leave!"
"Okay, I'll shut up! I'll leave!" Orlivan shot back. "You don't care about me or anyone else anyway. All you think of is her. You can't see how much we love you..." His eyes brimmed with angry tears. "Grandma is dead because of you! She was so sad because of what you have done! Tsk, why do I even bother telling you all this? You won't care anyway!"
Sullivan froze in shock, unable to believe his words. He felt his head spinning and his body weakening as he fell to the ground on his knees.
Orlivan muttered something else and stormed away, leaving Sullivan in his misery.
Sully didn't know how long he had been kneeling. The sky was darkening, and his legs were numb, but he couldn't feel anything. He felt empty. His mind was blank, and he felt like everything was a terrible nightmare.
"Hey, what are you doing outside?" A soft voice broke the silence enveloping him. "It's cold."
Sullivan lifted his head to look at Eliana, the love of his life. His eyes began to fill with tears upon seeing her. "Ellie..." he whispered. "I..." He tried to speak, but no words came out.
