Zadhea's narrowed eyes were fixed on nothing but the shoe not far from where she stood. She could feel the wind hitting her body as she ran toward the shoe as fast as she could. Her hair loosened and fell on her back, dancing from side to side.
She felt delighted as she got closer and closer to the shoe. 'Almost there,' she encouraged herself.
Just as she extended her hand to touch the shoe, a warm arm grabbed her waist and pulled her back, causing her to lose her balance.
"Aaah!" she screamed reflexively as she fell to the ground, dragging Heidith along with her.
"Got you!" Heidith looked at the girl lying on top of him with a smile on his face.
Zadhea's hair spread across his chest as she subconsciously hugged his arm tightly, closing her eyes.
"Will you let go of me now? I still have to feed you something delicious," Heidith said mischievously.
When Zadhea heard this, she instantly came back to her senses, swiftly releasing him and sitting up.
Heidith also sat up before grabbing a handful of grass.
Zadhea's eyes widened in shock. "Hei-Heidith, you aren't going to..."
"Indeed, I am," He nodded confidently.
"Aaah!" Zadhea screamed and tried to stand up, but Heidith didn't let her escape. He grabbed her wrist and pulled her back before thrusting grass into her mouth.
Zadhea could taste sand mixed with the grass.
"You're eating your pride, Miss Best Runner," he didn't forget to tease her.
"Thuk! Thuk!" Zadhea spat out the grass in disgust, her face turning crimson.
"Next, you!" She grabbed a large handful of grass with both hands before attacking Heidith.
"Hey, that's unfair!" Heidith exclaimed, but she had already begun her assault.
Trying to escape, Heidith tickled her stomach.
Giggling, Zadhea fell to the ground. "Stop, hee hee. Hey, stop! Ha ha ha."
Heidith laughed along with her. "I remember you tickling my foot once," he said, still laughing.
"What a snake." Zadhea pretended to be angry. "Are you taking revenge for something that happened ages ago?"
When he heard that, Heidith looked directly into her eyes with a serious expression. "Small or big, I don't want to forget a single memory I have with you."
Zadhea blinked, her eyes filling with an unrecognizable and complicated emotion.
Maybe that emotion was...
She shook her head as she clutched the hem of her dress, falling into a deep thought.
"What's wrong, Dhea?" Heidith touched the back of her hand. "Are you angry because I fed you grass?" He felt sad and guilty. "Sorry, it's all my fault. Wait, I'll eat some too as punishment."
He grabbed another handful of grass and brought it toward his mouth.
Zadhea quickly held his forearm, stopping him. "No, Heidith. Don't do that." Her eyes filled with tears.
Heidith panicked. "Dhea, you... you're crying!"
"It's nothing." She hugged him, resting her chin on his shoulder.
Heidith gently stroked her back. He was calm on the surface, but he was screaming inside.
Zadhea took the initiative to hug him!
He felt over the moon.
