Today was the release of The Color Purple and we were all flown to Los Angeles for the premiere. Most of the cast were all staying in the same hotel, Blitz, Oprah and the rest of the producers were in a hotel not far from us.
"Auntie why aren't you happier that your movie is coming out?" Chloe asked me. I was sitting on my bed taking my things out my suitcase.
"I'm happy Chloe."
"Are you and Fantasia okay?"
"Yeah she had her divorce hearing a few days ago and we haven't talked since."
"How long is a few days?"
"A week."
"A week?!"
"Well, we text but you know that's not the same as calling or seeing each other."
"You call her!"
"She hasn't been answering." My room door opened and Chloe left my room to see who it was. I could tell who it was by their voices before they even walked in my room. It was DDG, Halle, Ari, Jade and Zion. My room was filled in the blink of an eye. Jade got in my bed and laid her head in my lap. I stared at her for a second before stroking her hair.
"Hi mom two." Jades hand reached out and hit Zion on her leg. "Damn it Jade."
"Watch that mom word!"
"Be for real. You know you're my stepsister by now."
"We ain't seen your mom in a full week. I don't even know what she looks like anymore." Zion looked at me.
"You ain't seen mom in a week." I shrugged.
"It's not a big deal. I just wish she'd talk to me."
"She's not talking to you. What you do?" Halle asked me.
"Nothing." She eyed me like I was lying. "I didn't!"
"Well why she stop talking to you?" Darryl asked.
"Maybe she doesn't want to talk."
"Why?" Halle asked. "A week is crazy auntie I don't know."
"I'll see her today so I'm not tripping."
"She just went to sleep, the kids are sleep too. That plane ride tired them out." Zion said. "I'll make her talk to you today."
"No, don't make her do anything. If she wants to talk to me she will."
"Okay." They visited with each other for a while before Halle fell asleep in my bed.
"I'm sorry auntie. You want me to wake her up?" Darryl asked.
"Nah she's fine, let her sleep." Ari and Jade were about to be next, Jade was actually on live and falling asleep. I picked up her phone and just ended it.
