"Am I stupid for wanting her back?" I had brought Kali, and the boys to my Mom Tracie's house. Miguel was busy at work and she was coming up with new topics for her podcast.
"No, you are not stupid baby. I know you still love her." I did, and I missed her so much.
"Mama said I should just let her go, but I think she deserves a second chance. She's been trying, and Jade says that she doesn't see Kiara on her campus trying to visit that girl." I usually only see Kiara in school, or when she comes to see Kali and the boys. It's been two weeks and I missed her so much, I know we were supposed to just be on a break, but I just wanted to forget about her for one day but this girl really consumed my thoughts. I know the kids miss her too, they ask about their Mama all the time and I just tell them that Mama and I are just taking a little break from each other. Then Kali would turn around and ask me if the break was over because she wanted her Mama to come home. I had been here for two hours catching her up on my breakup with Kiara, we did talk on the phone a lot, but Tracie was a really busy person making sure she was always booked for something, she's always been like that. She was always being invited to events as a speaker, she spoke a lot about her mental health in hopes of reaching out to people who dealt with the same things she did. She's asked me to do the same thing before, I've gone once but I never did it again. I stopped my therapy around the same time too, it was just a lot for me I hated bringing up the past.
"I believe everyone deserves a second chance, but I also believe she needs to earn you back. What has she been doing to earn you back?"
"She gave me space for a few days and then we started back talking like we used to, like how we were when we were just friends. She asked to take me out on a date and I told her no, but I think I'm ready now."
"That's where you two were lacking, communication. You know you should really come back to therapy, it helps."
"I don't know about all that."
"Think about it, baby." I nodded. "I'm being serious, really think about it. You two could even do couples therapy." I nodded again. "So what else do you have planned today?" It was Friday and we had just gotten out of classes Kiara wanted to take the kids to the aquarium.
"Kiara wants to take the kids to the aquarium today. I have to go to work today, I have 5 clients." She told me she would be by the apartment at one and it was already 12 so I planned to leave soon.
"Ooh, the aquarium sounds like so much fun."
"Yeah, the kids love animals, especially Kali she loves the ocean." I felt my phone vibrate and it was a message from Jade.
