Today was Taraji's doctor's appointment. Her appointment was at 9 am, so I woke up just as early as she always did to help her get the kids ready. After Keziah and Dallas were off to school and we occupied the twins for a while, we took a shower together and got dressed for the day we headed downstairs so I could start breakfast. Taraji made another cup of coffee and sat at the table.
"What do you want for breakfast?"
"Nothing, I'm not hungry."
"It's cause you've been filling up on coffee since we woke up." She just looked at me. "What?"
"Nothing, but you don't have to be mean about it."
"Mean? I just asked you what you wanted for breakfast."
"And I said nothing. I can't not be hungry."
"No, not you." She stood from the table and walked out into the living room where the twins were watching cartoons. I made sausage, eggs, and avocado toast for their breakfast and a parfait as mine. I poured them some apple juice and called them to the table. They ran into the dining room and climbed up into their chairs. I cleaned up my mess and I could hear her coughing in the living room. "Mama!"
"Yes." She answered entering the kitchen.
"I made a parfait, you want to try some?" Her eyes lit up with interest and I walked forward holding up the spoon to her lips, she ate it off and moaned at the taste.
"Mmm, that's good." I smiled and tried to feed her again but she closed her mouth and shook her head. I sighed.
"Can you take a couple more bites, you can't take your medicine on an empty stomach." She nodded and opened her mouth. She took two more bites I kissed her cheek and she leaned against me before going to take her medicine. After the kids finished eating we headed to her doctor's appointment, we showed up on time and waited in the waiting area. I had Ana on my lap and she held Angelo.
"Is Mama getting a shot again?" Angelo asked.
"Yes, she's just getting a checkup." He gasped.
"Will you get a sucker at the end?"
"No baby. I'll just get another year... hopefully." I popped her on her leg and she glared at me.
"You say this every time we come, stop it."
"Okay, okay." She laid her head on my chest and I kissed the top of her forehead. "I love you."
