"Kali come pick up your damn toys."
"Ki, you don't have to curse at her." I side-eyed her in annoyance.
"Leave me alone, you just got over here and you're telling me not to yell at my daughter. I've been telling her to pick up the toys since she got home, mind your business."
"Alright, Miss attitude." She stood as Kali ran down the hall.
"Kali, how many times have I asked you to pick up these toys?"
"All day."
"So why are they still on the floor?"
"Sorry Mommy."
"It's okay, but someone could hurt themselves. Your toys are all in front of the front door and scattered around the living room. Go put them away please." She nodded and went to do as I instructed. I sighed and felt Giovanna's hands snake around my waist. I let them linger for a moment as my back laid against her chest letting her embrace give me some comfort. I wish this was Ari instead of Giovanna. I decided to move myself and removed her hands from my waist.
"Listen Gio, we should talk."
"You breaking up with me?" She asked and I chuckled.
"Breaking up is a little excessive." I waited for Kali to be done cleaning. When she finished she asked me for something to drink and then took it to her room.
"So, we can't be friends or nothing?" She asked following me into the living room. I picked up the cover I had been using to sleep on the couch and moved it so we could sit down. I knew this was what I needed to do if I was ever going to get my girl back.
"I don't think we should. Me being around you causes problems and I can't have those problems right now."
"Mama come on, we have a good time together and I really like you. I don't know what's stopping us from being together."
"I'm in love with Ari. We've been together for almost four years and I made a mistake."
"A mistake? You know we have a special connection Ki, you felt it and so did I." She was right I did feel it, it was how I felt when I met Ari.
"Ari isn't stupid. Emotionally I messed up-"
"We didn't even do anything, I don't even know why your girl is tripping."
"We did kiss. I cheated on her."
"... Does she know?"
"No."
"Are you sure, you said she ain't stupid. I still think it's your girl that broke my mirror but I'm not gonna say nothing to her."
"I already told you that her location hadn't moved since she left school, she didn't go over to your school to break your mirror."
