Today was the day of my heart surgery and to say I was nervous was an understatement. I didn't know if I would come out alive or not and I hated being in the hospital, so knowing that if I did live I'd be there for about a week was annoying as well. My appointment was at 12 and it was 11:00. I woke up when Tasia did at 6:30 but she wouldn't let me get out of bed. She said she wanted me to rest so I ended up going back to sleep, and I got up at 9. She made me breakfast, I took my medicine, and then I showered and dressed. I had been straightening up our room and packed my hospital bag, I wouldn't really need it today but I would need it later. I walked out of our room and went to the kitchen to make myself something to drink. I heated up some water and got down a teabag to make me some tea. I heard keys jingling in the door and I looked out the window seeing a black car, I then saw a few more cars pull into the driveway. Why were so many people here? The door opened and Tasha walked in, I was so confused.

"Raji!"

"I'm right here." She rushed right over to me and pulled me into a hug.

"How are you feeling? Are you okay?" She held my face with so much concern like she thought I was dead.

"I'm fine." Looking towards the door Regina, Mary, Nia, Janet, Jada, Sanaa, and Tracie had all come inside. "Did you all think I was dead? Who told you I was dead?" Tasha had taken my head and pushed me into her chest in a hug.

"No one said you were dead, we just wanted to see you before you go into surgery," Jada said.

"Tasha let me go."

"Let her go, you're smothering her," Regina said hitting her on the arm. She let me go once she realized I might not be able to breathe. "Tasha you are so dramatic." Tasha flipped her off. I went to go shut my door and then walked back into the kitchen to make my tea.

"How long will you be in surgery?" Nia asked.

"My doctor said that it could last from 4 to 8 hours."

"Damn, that's a whole shift."

"And recovery?" Sanaa asked.

"A week, maybe longer. I don't know."

"Tasia said something about both surgeries, why do you need two surgeries?" Tasha asked.

"I'm having a kidney transplant as well."

"Your kidney is failing?" I nodded.

"You know you can have mine," Jada said and I chuckled as I dipped the tea bag repeatedly.

"Thank you J, I know you would."

"Why didn't you tell us?" Mary asked. "Why didn't you tell me at least." Regina elbowed her and Tasha glared at her.

"You're so damn petty, you are always trying to start a riot," Sanaa said.

"Y'all know who's in first place."
