"Hame aapse kuch baat karni hai" I said when I saw Aarav coming out of the bathroom.
(I need to talk to you)
It had been a day since the video incident. I stood there, in front of Aarav, who had just returned from the office, with many questions swirling in my mind.
"But first, please have your dinner. I've already served it," I said, putting Aarush in his baby cot, where he had fallen asleep.
Aarav didn't say anything, perhaps knowing that this conversation was inevitable. Yesterday, neither of us had enough time to talk. As soon as we finished eating, we went upstairs to our room, and I walked out onto the balcony. Aarav followed me.
"What do you need to talk about?" Aarav asked, not looking at me but staring ahead, leaning on the railing. I leaned next to him.
"About yesterday," I said, and Aarav just nodded. I continued, "The video reached me, which means those people know about us, right? They must know that you are 'The King' who hides from the world."
Aarav let out a deep sigh and hung his head. "They reached me by tracking you, Rhea," he said softly.
I stared at him in shock. "What do you mean?" I asked.
"The day you escaped from them, you ran all the way to my warehouse, and that's how they found out about me," Aarav explained. I gasped, cupping my mouth. "Ricky! That's the name he goes by in this world. His real name is unknown. I've been searching for him for months-no, almost two years now,"
Aarav continued. "He's involved in illegal activities, smuggling, and trafficking. If I'm the Don of the underground world, he's the counterpart in his own world. He's the one who kidnapped you. Whether it's a coincidence or destiny, I don't know," Aarav sighed again, looking at me, but I was too shocked to respond.
"I couldn't understand anything back then," Aarav said, referring to Sneha's pregnancy and her sudden departure. "Everything was happening so fast that I didn't realise how vulnerable I had become, allowing his men to infiltrate my warehouse. Everything was leaking from there, and I couldn't figure out how."
Then he took my hand and looked at me with soft eyes. "But you pulled me out of that grief. You became my support, and you brought Aarush into my life. The first doubt arose when your mother and brother came here-" He stopped when he saw my more confused and shocked expression.
