Bato of the water tribe

Y/n POV:

another day another flight. we flew on appa's back until we had to stop so we landed to get supplies. Sokka found something though. he stopped and picked it up.

"what's up Sokka?" I questioned it looked like some form of weapon

"THIS IS A WATER TRIBE WEAPON!!" Sokka exclaimed excitedly.

"Woah, really??" Aang shouted back.

"Katara come over here!" Sokka called.

"what did you lose something again?" Katara groaned but when she saw the weapon her eyes lit up. we all took a bit to find any more traces of the water tribe.

"there must've been a battle here! the water tribe warriors ambushed the fire nation this way!" Sokka exclaimed then guided along some tracks left by the water tribe men. we fallowed them  until Sokka abruptly stopped.

"sokka what's wrong?" Katara asked.

"the trail ends here" Sokka sighed. I poked his shoulder. he looked up at me confused until I pointed to a ship, I knew it was a water tribe vessel.

"No way!!" Katara cheered the two siblings ran to the ship Aang and I fallowed behind.

"isn't this dad's boat?" Katara asked.

"no but it's from his group!" Sokka explained.

"but where are the people?" I questioned.

"Heck if I know but they'll be back soon I bet!" Sokka cheered the way he looked at the ship showed how much he missed his dad, and his home.

"well if they're coming back lets set up camp." Aang suggested. we were all asleep within half an hour. all except Sokka he seemed to be having a flash back. it was actually a good sleep for me, until the wind woke me up saying someone was coming towards us. I use air to bounce up from my sleeping bag and got into a fighting stance.

"Y/n Calm down this is Bato!" Sokka exclaimed.

"Bato?" I questioned i looked besides Sokka to see a water tribe man.

"Bato!" Katara cheered and went over to him the three water tribe people hugged, it was pretty heart warming.

"it's been so long!" Sokka exclaimed.

"wait does this mean dad is with you?" Katara asked excitedly.

"no I'm afraid he's not, but I'm expecting word from him anyday now!" Bato told them.

"that's incredible!!" Katara cheered.

"yes but this is no place for a reunion fallow me." Bato said then the fourof us left with his to a monistary of some sort. it smelled like perfume making me feel woozy, perfume just kinda does that to me.

"it is a great honor to meet the avatar." one of the sisters told Aang.

"Hello! If you ever need anything-" Aang started but was intrupted by Sokka.

"Hey Bato what smells so good!" Sokka asked.

"The sisters here make perfume and ointments." Bato explained he lead the four of us into a room witch had furs and other things.

"Woah this place has everything! even the pelts" Katara cheered

"yeah nothing says home like dead animal skin." Aang said grossed out. after a bit I could tell Aang felt left out honestly I did too, but I was lost in thought thinking about Zuko. how long would i be able to keep lying about my feelings? after a bit of thinking i stepped out maybe a walk would help. i walked to Bato's ship. then heard Aang coming the wind told me he was feeling bad.

"hey Y/n..." Aang sighed

"Hi Aang..." I said softly my voice filled with regret. we ended up sitting together on top of Bato's ship. For a while we were both silent, only the sound of night could be heard.

"hey Y/n i need to ask something..." Aang spoke breaking the silence. i looked over at him worried.

"what's up?" I questioned.

"at the fire nation stronghold..." Aang started, i was already worried.

"Aang where is this going?" I questioned in the foolish attempt to play dumb.

"why'd you really come to the stronghold? I can tell you didn't know I was there." Aang finally asked. I sighed.

"Your right, i had no clue you were there..." I admitted.

"yeah i figured out some things like how Zuko likes you...But it doesn't make sense! he keeps taking you and locking you up on his horrible ship!" Aang started to tear up as he spoke.

"Aang that's not the whole truth..." I said softly, he looked confused.

"then what is the whole truth?" Aang questioned.

"I-" I stopped a moment I could not tell him. "I'll tell you on the other side of the war..." I promised.

"Y/n i need to know now! why were you at the fortress!" Aang yelled. i looked down

"I can't tell you yet..." I told him. a tear fell down my cheek. i jumped down from where we were.

"I'll see you at the monistary Aang..." i told him.

"Y/n wait!" he called but i was already walking away.

the next day i found out that Bato is going to see Sokka and Katara's dad. I knew Aang was worried they would go with him. the Gaang and Bato went to his ship Next thing i know we're ice dodging a water tribe write of passage.

we did AWESOME! at one point we were about to crash into the rocks but Katara amd Aang did some awesome bending. back on shore we were all given marks with paint.

"for Sokka the mark of the wise" Bato anounced while painting his mark "for Katara the mark of the brave" Bato contineud. i felt like i didn't do much but still he came and gave me a mark too

"For Y/n the mark of the strong." He said and painted a circle with a dot inside. I was proud for once this was a pretty big deal. 

"and for Aang the mark of the trusted. you two are now honorary members of the water tribe." Bato smiled.

"You can't.." Aang sighed

"What are you talking about?" Katara asked

"you can't trust me." Aang said then he pulled out a crumpled piece of paper and ahnded it to Sokka. Sokka's face quickly turned to rage.

"This is the map to our father!" Sokka yelled. "YOU HAD IT THE HOLE TIME!!" Sokka fumed.

"Aang why didn't you tell us?" Katara asked.

"i was worried you'd leave!" Aang said.

"well i am, Katara Y/n are you with me?" Sokka asked.

"I'm with you sokka." katara said. i was a bit confused on why SOkka said i should go to he seemed to pick up on this.

"he said himself we can't trust him." Sokka explained. 

"well i'm still sticking with him." I told Sokka.

"Fine. I hope we'll meet again Y/n." Sokka said then them and Bato left.

"Y/n thanks but you should go with them..." Aang said softly. i looked to him confused.

"Y/n i can barely keep myself safe from the fire nation much less you..." Aang said he was starting to tear up.

"Aang i'm not leaving you!" I exclaimed.

"you have too though!" Aang yelled. i clenched my fist.

"FINE!!" i yelled then ran in the direction of Sokka and Katara i swiftly caught up with them. we walked for a while until we heard a wolf howl.

"That wolf it muat be hurt." Katara said

"no. it's been seperated from it's pack." Bato expalined it's how he felt after being seperated. Sokka Katara and i looked at each other.

"Bato we can't go with you..." Sokka explained that we are needed with Aang Bato understood and we went back to where Aang was.
